The Prince Albert, Battersea

The Prince Albert has now sorted out its management and team issues and is much improved. Very buzzy atmosphere and good service

The Prince Albert, Battersea

All is not well at the Prince Albert. Since the unforeseen departure of the manager, the service has deteriorated alarmingly. During a recent mid week visit, after waiting over 20 minutes for a drink, I heard one of the bar staff telling a complaining customer that, if he couldnt wait for his drink, he should leave. Meanwhile, his colleague was instructing a very green trainee in the complex task of using a cork screw. Avoid at all busy times or go to a better, owner managed pub in Battersea, like the Secret Garden.

The Gipsy Moth, Greenwich

Extremely well run and lively pub in the main pedestrian area of Greenwich next to the Cutty Sark. Not a gastro, just simple, fresh food well prepared. Waitress service - all very friendly (ours called Jess). Young crowd, well behaved. Thoroughly recommended.

The Bucks Head, Godden Green

Nice location but spoiled by grumpy Chef, indifferent food and slow service. Have these people lost interest.

The Bell and Jorrocks, Frittenden

Praise the Lord for a genuine English country pub - a dying species. The Landlord's family have .been here for 40 years. The pub is welcoming and not gastro. In other words, the menu is short, well cooked and interesting. The landlord is cheerful. The regulars actually talk to you. What a blessing. Well worth a detour. Romer

The Crumplehorn Inn, Polperro

Least friendly pub I have ever been to. Avoid.

The Prince Albert, Battersea

The Prince Albert has become over the last year without doubt the best pub in London. Always packed with amusing and watchable people (of course nothing to do with the fact that both Royal Princes have been spotted there) it is run brilliantly by Sile (pronounced Sheila) its exceptional manageress. The staff are all friendly and well trained (no grumpy imports here) and there is even table service. The food is excellent, but it is the sheer buzz of the place that has attracted regulars from all over London. I am trying to replace my card behind the bar with a direct debit
