Paradise By Way Of Kensal Green, Kensal Green

Love this pub - since it changed hands it has lost some of its uniqueness (if that's a word) but it is still in the spirit of old. Glad that they have got rid of those filthy and horrible metal chairs. The much vaunted Bloody Marys on the menu aren't all that - but there you go. One of those places that I drop into from time to time and always enjoy.

Shish, Willesden Green

I like it, we had to send back our Martinis as they were heavy on the vermouth, but once sorted, great, like the cocktail bar and enjoy the occasional meal there...

The Cricklewood, Cricklewood

This pub has closed down.

The Cambrian, Aberdare

great pub, not from the area but go there every time that I visit - best boozer in Aberdare.

The Spotted Dog, Willesden Green

Yes, really sad that it has gone - moved to Willesden Green in 2000 and lived in the place. What an institution, was so shocked to see it closed but it had become a really unpleasant place to go, no atmosphere, no punters, just depressing - we should all club together and buy it and try and get it back to its heyday.

The Crown, Cricklewood

Stupidly expensive and please give it a rest with the blaring sports fixtures. Was in there a couple of Sundays ago - no one watching the bloody football but screen upon screen of ear-splittingly loud sport. Could be such a great place but they don't do it justice.

The Green, Willesden Green

Pub has really improved since their refit, better decor and a far more comfortable experience. Shame however that they have no direct competition as this would raise their game further. Why is Willesden Green such a desert when it comes to decent pubs? Maybe all like minded people who want a decent boozer in the area should club together and buy the Spotted Dog before it gets turned into flats or demolished.

The George, West Bay

Horribly expensive - actually more expensive than most London pubs, unfriendly staff (but that goes for pretty much everyone in this village). Not a happy experience.

The Spotted Dog, Willesden Green

What the hell happened to the Dog? Back in 2000 it was a lively friendly pub, always full and with a great juke box. Now, empty, cold and totally unwelcoming, went from being my local to a place I can hardly stand to think about...

The William IV, Kensal Green

Not what it was and that's a fact. Used to love the place and the staff were great but they all seem to be unfriendly now. Also, the palce resembles a creche at the weekends and the ghastly 'yummy munny' types will not,of course, keep their little brats under control as they are too busy with their nose in the Sunday papers. Never had a good experience with the food there, so can't comment on what it is like these days.

The Black Lion, Kilburn

I went in there last week for the first time in about 6 months spent a couple of pleasant hours chatting over a few beers but as always it is underheated. At least they have made some improvement to the hideous mish mash of junk furniture which used to make me angry every time went in there. Bar staff are pleasant and polite but I was slightly disconcerted that everyone in the place turned round and looked at the door when we entered! If everything matched the fantastic plasterwork, this would be one of the best pubs in London...

The Porterhouse, Covent Garden

Didn't like it at all. Horrible atmosphere and was told at the door to take my cap off (not a baseball cap, I might add - I don't like going around looking like a cancer victim or simpleton) which annoyed me. Jam packed with horrible suburban office types, TVs on so loud that conversation was out of the question. Interesting range of beers but that isn't enough to tempt me back.

The Green, Willesden Green

Not too bad in the scheme of things. Suffers from that idiotic fashion in certain pubs to fill it with mismatched and unstable furniture. Can sometimes feel a bit like a windtunnel and on winter evenings avoid tables near the door as freezing. Gents could do with a makeover, looking very shabby these days. Shame that the restaurant isn't busier as the food is quite nice. Far better than most pubs in Willesden but that isn't a very difficult achievement.

The Rummer Tavern, Cardiff

Couldn't agree more. Good pub always make sure I drop in when visiting Cardiff and certainly a world away from the stag/henparty chavs that have ruined St Mary Street.
