Hard to disagree with most of the comments about this really pleasant and well kept pub. No one has commented though about the beer prices which include an eye-watering �3.60 for a pint of ESB, add in �1 for a bowl of peanuts (decanted from a bag costing much less no doubt) and this becomes a very expensive place for a pint or three.

The Crooked Chimney, Welwyn Garden City

Went here for lunch on Friday of half-term week so busy-ish though not crowded. Served by rude barman who told us food wait was 15 mins, 40 mins later after a chase up it arrived. So-so but looked and tasted like brought in stuff. Upon paying the bill we tackled the aforesaid rude barman re the wait and he said 'well it depends what you have madam'. Cheeky sod he didn't say that when we asked earlier. Only 2 real ales on and the Broadside was OK. Wouldn't recommend this place to be honest.

The Brocket Arms, Ayot St. Lawrence

This pub is now closed with a sign outside saying that 'they look forward to welcoming you back shortly'. Builders signs suggest refurb is about to be undertaken
