In York for a weekend. Dropped in for lunch and got good food and beer at very reasonable prices.

Went there last Tuesday with my daughter and her boyfriend. Good pint of Hobgoblin. Toilets nice and clean, staff friendly. Will be going back for a meal with the wife ASAP

Pub undergoing a redecorating phase. Good riddance to that chocolate colour wall. Still some of the best beer in Windsor and very good food. Try the steak!

Under new management. Pete and Helen are now running the place and there have already been some changes. Watch out for a new menu, cheaper wine already but not free beer yet!

There is a very welcome change to this pub. The Old Speckled Hen was really good and there was a decent throughput of people. One old face was still lurking behind the bar but even he seems to have changed for the better. Let's hope they can keep it up and maybe we can start drinking there again rather than going into Windsor!

This pub needs to get rid of the silly kids who pretend to be bar people and pay for a decent old fashioned barman who can run the cellar and look after the customers. I have lived in the village for twenty years but after the last week's rubbish service, again, and the vinegar that was supposed to be real ale, again, I will not touch it with a barge pole! It was the last straw that broke the camel's back!

Very friendly pub. Only popped in for a couple of beers while we waited for a table at the Indian restaurant down the road but were made to feel very welcome. Good pint of Directors and Spitfire.

Well kept pint of ESB. Have tried the food a few times and found it to be very good although you can't get chips! Landlord and bar steward pleasant and well mannered. It may be a rugby pub but they showed football when I was there even though rugby was advertised on the TV blackboard.

Plenty of character and a good pint of Magnet. A little bit of an "Us and Them" feel in the bar but I always visit it when I'm in York.

Great pint of Sam Smith's. Made several visits during my recent trip to York and on each time the Ouse got a little bit higher until the last day when the pub couldn't open! Pleasant landlord, staff and pub dogs!!

Good food and good beer. Went there a few times during last year and always had excellent service.

Old speckled hen kept in good condition. Staff and locals seem friendly enough. Haven't tried the food yet but what I saw looked very good.

The Kings Head, Holmbury St Mary
I have visited this lovely little pub several times. It isn't a local by a long way. About 30 miles! Always been warmly welcomed, good food and good beer. Great!
