Why does refurbishment usually now mean a crap pub?
I used to drink in here a few years ago when it was a comfortable pub with decent furniture and it still sold real beer. Sorry to see Banks's keg mild instead of the real thing. I'll give it a miss from now on.

The Duke of Cambridge, Shortheath
A comfortable, friendly pub with good range of well kept beers. The Highgate Dark Mild is a real gem and from now on I'll go for this rather than the bitters.

Friendly atmosphere.
Well kept beers and the Pig on the Wall Mild is a real treat.

The Bartons Arms, Aston
A quality real ale pub in this part of Birmingham. Friendly bar staff and a good range of beer. I was interested to note that it had 2 mild beers available, which is something of a rarity when many pubs no longer stock this refreshing style of beer. I tried a pint of the Hobsons Mild from Shropshire and which I understand is the regular Mild at this pub.
A lovely drink and made a change from my more usual selection of a bitter.
Well done the Barton.
