Why is this pub not in the Good Beer Guide ? Visited it for the first time on Saturday afternoon. Its proximity to the open market meant the pub was very busy. Good service and the best pints of Ram Tam I have ever tasted.

Visited The Red Lion last Saturday having journeyed up on a day trip from London. Had heard some good reports on this pub from Camra members and so decided to investigate. I was not disappointed. It is a Greene King pub and their beers do not excite me. However there were ales from Skinners,Salopian and Titanic on offer and they were in superb condition.
Being next to the market the pub was very busy so had to wait a little while to get served but it was worth the wait.

Visited here last Thursday having arrived in York from Kings Cross on a staem hauled excursion. Having read that this bar had won The Publican's award for its variety of beers then a visit was compulsory. It is a small deli type bar.Two cask ales were on offer plus some foreign beers on fonts. Sadly we were not to taste any beer at all. We arrived around 2pm and there were half a dozen ladies dining on salads and drinking coffee. We sat at the small bar.The lone barman was preparing food for a couple of customers which took him five minutes. A man next to be served ordered a selection of items including a pint which took another eight minutes. We were next to be served but the barman decided to make up some more salads. At no time did he acknowledge us or say something like 'I will be with you soon gents'. We had no choice but to leave.I have never written negative comments on this site before but I couldn't let this experience pass without comment.
Happily a few minutes later we enjoyed some superb ales and company in The Guy Fawkes Inn.

Visited last Saturday lunchtime. Well worth getting soaked on short walk from Temple Meads station. Tucked in a back street behind the Ibis hotel this pub is well worth seeking out. Basic decor,no frills pub, friendly staff and excellent brews from Bristol Beer Factory plus one guest ale.

This pub just gets better and better each time I venture over from Richmond. Not an easy journey but well worth the effort. I don't know about 'best pub in Kent' as to me it is the best in the UK and I have visited quite a few since the introduction of Camra's Good Beer Guide in the seventies.

Refurb almost completed. Not your typical village local but a pleasant place to imbibe. Chiswick and Pride always on good form when I visit.

Well worth the short walk from Temple Meads station. I make a bee-line for this pub whenever I am in Bristol. Great selection of cask ales mostly from West Country micros and very friendly staff.
Real ales 2 a pint all day on Wednesdays and in afternoons on other weekdays. A no frills pub with well kept ale.

I was away on holiday when the pub was supposed to have passed away. I did receive lots of messages in my absence about the demise of a once great local boozer but last night was the first chance I had to go and look for myself.
The pub was busy and a good percentage of the regulars were there. The atmosphere was good as was the quality of the beer. The decor is awful but I am assured there is still a lot of work to be done. I felt like I was drinking in a railway waiting room of a third world country.
We were told in 1997 by the great and the good 'things can only get better'. They haven't. In the case of The Andover I am prepared to be patient and wait for things to improve. Time will tell but another traditional pub has bit the dust and we will never see the like again in the backstreets of W6.

The Hope, Carshalton
Attended the mild festival last night as the pub received its award for being voted Sutton Camra Pub of the Year 2010.
A very friendly pub with smiling staff and amusing customers. The regulars here bought the lease from Punch Taverns recently so is in good hands. A must visit for all fans of real ale. Surely must be listed in the Good Beer Guide 2011 when it is published.
