The Florence, Herne Hill

I have to correct those that are calling this place to Oirish. The slightly naff decor, the furniture, the music, the tater crisps, the red lemonade and the lucozade behind the bar are all genuinely irish pub traits. If any of the complainers had ever actually been to Ireland they'd know this.

Its a great pub, light, airy, large, friendly both staff and locals, great garden, a real slice of Eire, not Oirland. Oh and the food is very reasonable too.

The George Canning, Denmark Hill

Lovely pub, perfect for a post pub summer's evening. A lot of rework done over the last few months with the menu, which is now much more sensibly priced and better quality.
Good friendly bar staff, they may appear slow if you're the type who wafts 50 pound notes form the third row back in all-bar-one whilst pretending to now what seling short means, but for god's sake just relax, enjoy the atmosphere and make friends with the staff. locals and the resident drunk woman, who sadly seems to have her drinking largely under control these days.

Inside 72, East Dulwich

Just too small for a decent night at the weekend (unless you're one of the local sixth formers) but great for a mid-weeker or a steak sandwich on a sunday.

The Uplands Bar and Brasserie, East Dulwich

Had breakfast there twice, both times cold eggs and sausages.
Patty sign on door saying things like 'foootball shirts are for a football pitch, baseball caps are for a baseball diamond' (add own nasally whining voice here).
Still the beer is fine and there's a beer garden of sorts, but service perfunctory
