The Porchester, Royal Oak

Had a splendid pint of Addlestones cider here, though I thought it was quiet for a sunday afternoon. And yes, my 4 year old did enjoy the colouring in competition.... here's hoping his entry has won my a bar tab!

The Eight Bells, Old Hatfield

A proper old fashioned pub - bit worn on the edges - but very enjoyable. Food good, though the burger was dry. Would go again!

Case is Altered, Old Redding

I've always like this pub, but I've yet to eat here - their summer BBQs look good, and smell great! It's a great place to end after a walk up the hill through the fields...

Ye Olde Greene Manne, Rickmansworth

We got to the door of this place, before we had to get back in the car - no kids allowed. Our 3 year old at the time was a keen eater-outer, and he was in tears!

The Waggoners, Ayot Green

I only sat outside on a summer's afternoon, and I only popped inside briefly - but it seems very quaint. Road noise from A1M is a bit of a rumble, but otherwise lovely location.

Long Arm and Short Arm, Welwyn Garden City

Probably my local favourite - the location more than anything. Wedges and beef chilli is a winner for less than three quid!

The Crooked Chimney, Welwyn Garden City

Is this a chain? Been there several times - food very good, great ambience, and probably the fave in the area. Packed on fridays, so go mid-week!

The Hopfields, Hatfield

Seemed nice enough, though the food was a bit ropey.

The Plough, Smallford

Fab little pub a little off the beaten track - real fire, wooden beams, full of character, horses outside in the fields. Food was good, possibly a little pricey. Love it!
