The Haycutter, Oxted

Went there last night for the first time since its re-launch. Couldn't see any difference..looked very tired and in desperate need of a good clean. A huge white dog seemed to prefer jumping up to the bar... the food was very average..had roast beef - overcooked with dry and tasteless veggies. Sauces only in service station style sachets..It was so disappointing to go back after what could have been a superb oportunity to make this pub into something special only to find no obvious improvement - even the same smell of cigarette smoke prevading the bar..

Paris Hotel, Coverack

Having eaten at The Witchball on The Lizard the night before the Paris had some stiff competition. It was awful!! The gorgonzola and cauliflower soup tasted like sour milk and even though we sent it back we were still charged for it. The fish was obviously not fresh as my daughter's fish was rubbery and tasteless. I had the monkfish special which was tasteless and tough. There were only 2 other people in the restaurant on a Thursday night which said a lot. Bearing in mind it was the most expensive meal on our holiday in Cornwall it was definitely not worth the visit.

The Witchball, The Lizard

We ate here as a party of 8 with 3 small children and we couldn't have been made more welcome. Generally we found the food in the area to be very average but this is a real treat. The hake was some of the best fish I have ever had and the steaks were fab. It was not expensive in comparison with many similar local eateries. We would highly recommend this to anyone down in that area.

The George, Old Oxted

As a regular over the past 2 years I have seen this place go steadily downill. Yesterday I found the staff to be about the rudest I have seen in a pub in what is a very competitive area. The food seems to get more and more pricey and the staff more and more surly. Will not be returning in the near future..As another comment - try The Crown across the road.
