Recommended by a friend: This pub has a very good, friendly atmosphere. There is a good range of ales although, like most pubs, it is fairly expensive. It is in the picturesque village of dunsfold which is one of Surrey's most beautiful villages. It attracts some famous people including: JK (from Jamiroquai), Chris Evans and Jeremy Clarkson (Due to the Top Gear Studios and race track being near by) There are also meals provided by The Sun to some of the Top Gear Staff!!!

Decent pub with good range of food and drink. there is decent seating and a pool table. only trouble is to get from one side of the pub to the other you either have to walk outside and go in through the other door or go through the toilets!

Really good place for a piss up. Drinks are the lowest price in Godalming and there is a massive range of ales and cocktails. Also the staff are quite young and are really easy to get on with

The Sun is classic! i agree with other comments that the decoration is a bit old fashioned but it is still quality. It is owned by Duncan and Cath who are legends. The best things about the pub are the 40p blackcurrant soda waters(for when I'm skint), the pork scratching which are legendary (they even have curry pork scratchings which are awful on your bladder!) and finally the quiz on a Thursday night! Me and my mates have been going to the quiz since September 2004. There are questions in different categories and the winners have to take a lucky dip at one of four options. these are rollover, 20 drinks voucher, 20 food voucher and the cashpot (which goes up to 150) We actually won the cashpot in our first week but only won 24 between four of us!!!

The Sun, Godalming
I've already posted a comment on the Sun before, but thought i'd write another one seeing as it has new owners.
It's not quite the same as when Dunc and Cath ran the place (i miss them!). There seems to be less of a family atmosphere there - not that there necessarily was when Dunc owned it - but Dunc and Cath would always be around the bar chatting to people and joking etc. The Sun seems more like just a boring pub now....nothing particularly special about it. The quiz night on a Thursday is rubbish and isn't the same fun-filled occasion as it did when Dunc and Cath were here. The juke box has gone, which means that we have to listen to same CD where a lot of songs are repeated. The new owners have tried to appeal to different people by turning Sundays into "Golden Oldies" night, where they basically repeat a selection of music every week. There seems to be a whole new group of people attracted to the Sun now and the likes of myself and my mates, who were much loved and known as the "tax dodgers", aren't as welcomed there now.
The range of beers/bitters remains the same with no real change in prices (Blackcurrant & soda water has gone up to 60p....not a happy bunny).
Basically, the Sun was a much more welcoming, friendly pub when Dunc and Cath ran it, and they are sorely missed by all!
