The Skinners Arms, Kings Cross
A pub close enough to St Pancras to be useful as a pre-station destination. I had an early dinner there which was tip top. Nothing special, just ham and eggs and chips - but that's so easy to screw up. The chips were fresh and light, the fried eggs set just so and a generous serving for about 5. Staff were friendly enough.
Comfortable Mocktorian interior, lots of seating early on a Saturday evening and a good /fresh/ Greene King IPA.
I've been looking for somewhere to have a drink outside of the actual station 'compound' and I think this may be it.

The big advantage this has over the Hand and Shears is that it is open on a Saturday. It makes a handy stop if you're visiting the Museum of London on a weekend.
Very friendly bar staff, and a moderately well kept pint of Wandle, but the pub could do with a run over with a hoover. I didn't eat but the food I saw looked fine. I'd go back, but probably not if the H&S was open.

McGlynns, Kings Cross
A local pub for local people. I came on here after a visit to the Skinners Arms and the contrast was remarkable. Maybe if I'd come here first...
No food on, juke box cranked high, a clump of local-locals center stage - with a visit topped off by a sour poorly kept Courage Best. Nope, I won't be going back.
