The Cricketers Arms, Wisborough Green
I like the Cricks
it does a few things better than other pubs
Real ale is Harvey's, Pride and a guest one and all kept in reasonable condition although they are all too cold usually, the head doesn't stick to the side of the glass which an indication that the glass isn't "beer clean" but taste wise it's good. Not a great selection of lagers, just the usual suspects of fosters, heineken etc. which for a free house I think is a wasted opportunity to stock something a bit more special.
Food is good quality, and it hasn't succumbed to the thing that drives me mad about the food pubs and that is giving you a tiny portion of food for a lot of money, here you pay for a plate full and you get a plate full so fair play to them for that.
Overall a decent pub and worth a visit if only for the bang for buck factor.

I love this pub!
Me and my mate were out and about, moseying around in the car, as we do, and stumbled across this place which he remembered he used to go here when he was younger and well.....
Beer wise I have never been anywhere that keeps beer as well as this place. The first time we went the Betty Stoggs was the best I've tasted, so much so that ever since then, when I've had it elsewhere it's tasted like ditch water and haven't been able to finish the pint, cheers Paul!
Unfortunately Betty Stoggs have jacked the price up too much in their recent price increase that he's had to change it out for Wallups Wood, which to be fair is a good replacement although not quite as addictive as Stoggs!!
The beers that were there last time I was there were Swift One, Wallups Wood and Moondance, they're clean, clear and have a head that stays and sticks to the side of the glass indicating a "beer clean" glass.
Food wise was a bit of a surprise for me because when you look at the menu and the prices it's easy to assume that the food is mediocre but it isn't. It's peasant food done well with the likes of pork belly cassoulet, mussel chowder, chilli con carne and chicken curry at the 7.50 marker, it's quality and is perfect to sort your hunger out or soak up some high quality beer!
Go to this pub and have a well kept beer for once and smash a bowl of cassoulet while you're at it!
Enjoy!

The Three Crowns, Wisborough Green
This pub does some things really well, atmosphere is one and it's reassuring to see that the locals use it to drink in as well as to eat in. They do get a bit loud and drop the odd f word now and again but at the end of the day it's a pub, go to a restaurant where you can hear a pin drop if you can't handle that sort of thing. The beer is ok, not in amazing condition, in the winter it was freezing cold and dead but has improved recently as the outside temp has risen and Ben the man that can is constantly trying to improve things so fair play for that!
As for food, it's pretty good quality but small portions of it. It's a common thing in foodie pubs in a recession, they reduce their prices to get the punters in but naturally reduce the portions (you don't get something for nothing, you should know this by now ;-) so much so in fact that after a cheese burger 10.50 (accompanied by seven chips, that's right, I counted them) and a dessert 5.50 I was still hungry and felt disappointed by the experience.
Overall not a bad pub, atmosphere is good, go here for a beer with your mates but if your hungry after a days graft and need a plate full of food then there are many pubs nearby which you can get better food and more of it for the same price or lower.
