The Rose and Crown, Selling

Lovely pub in a beautiful setting. I can honestly say that I've never had a more friendly welcome. As previous reviewers have noted, Harveys and Adnams seem to be the regular beers, but we had the guest: Jack Black from Brains, which went down very well indeed! We will certainly be returning when we are in the area.

The Dragon Inn, Worcester

As far as I'm concerned, this is easily the best pub in Worcester, and one of the best in the UK

The Thatchers Arms, Mount Bures

I can't believe that this pub is not in the current GBG when so many other, poorer pubs are. Since it changed hands, the beer has been excellent. The food is rather decent too. You can sit outside, supping your excellent pint and admire the view over the stour valley.

The country pub experience doesn't get much better than this. Just wish I lived closer so I could enjoy it more often.

The Coach and Horses Inn, Chepstow

Have to say I've always enjoyed the pub when I have visited it. Had the luck to stumble on a beer festival at the end of July 2005 - all the beer I had was in decent nick. Looking forward to visiting it again this year.

The Kings Head, Pebmarsh

An excellent balance between food, drink and games. The beer range is varied, the quality usually very good, and the location is superb. It is well worth leaving the beaten track to visit this pub.

The Dog Inn, Halstead

Good boozer, with an interesting choice of ales. Well worth a visit

The Lexden Crown, Colchester

What is the point of serving eight different sorts of vinegar?

SU Bar, Colchester

Ripped out most of the handpumps years ago. The one remaining pump is rarely used, and the beer is usually in poor condition when it is. Stick to the guiness.

The Playhouse, Colchester

Occasionally you stumble on a decent ale, but you'll be lucky if it is served well. The food is generally poor and sometimes undercooked - my wife had to send her fish back to the kitchen as it was raw on the inside. It may be cheap, but surely it is worth paying a bit more for a decent pint in decent surrondings.

The Odd One Out, Colchester

This pub was my regular for over 10 years, even though I lived 8 miles away. The choice of beer in Colchester is second to none, and the quality is usually very good. People are usually friendly. Treat the tatty decor as part of the charm!

The Hospital Arms, Colchester

Beer usually in good nick, even if the selection is predictable. It's friendly enough, but quite expensive.

The Station Hotel, Wivenhoe

Lively, friendly pub, but quite expensive. However, T
the Greene King IPA was the most bland pint i have ever tasted - and for that beer, it is saying something!

The Black Buoy, Wivenhoe

The food is generally good, but the beer is varible, and you do have to complain to get a full pint.
