The Ridley Arms, Stannington

Went back with guests and was good but nothing overly special. Food was ok, if a bit pricey, staff were friendly and helpful. I'd go back for sure, but it's a bit out of the way for me.

The Twin Farms, Kenton Bank Foot

A truly excellent pub. Food is wonderful, the place has lots of different areas of seating to choose from, including some very comfy high-back chairs. Service is quick, and staff are friendly and polite. A nice selection of beers and a relaxed atmosphere. I now go regularly for meals and bring guests who always leave with positive things to say about the pub. I envy the other patrons there who are kicking back with a pint after work (my 19mth old won't let me sit back and relax, that's for sure!). Which reminds me, the baby changing facilities are the cleanest I have ever seen! Spotless and well stocked. Tt's just around the corner from Bank Foot Metro station, so no worries about driving home (although ample parking is provided). If you're in the area, or passing by, I'd recommend it for sure.

Duke Of Wellington, Gosforth

Just noticed this pub is now called The Flaming Grill. Not sure if it's a name-change or under new management, but will let you know more when I next venture in.

The Ridley Arms, Stannington

Good food, and plenty of it! Struggled to finish the fish and chips! Pleasant atmosphere, but can get very busy very fast. Friendly staff and decent prices. Plan to go back there in a months time with a larger party, wil see if it's still of a high standard.

Fitzgeralds Newcastle, Newcastle

It's easy to walk past this place and not notice it. For those who spot it and venture in then you're in for a treat. Wonderful old-style decor leading all the way to the back where the bar is situated. Dotted around are wonderful seating booths which protect you from the hussle and bustle of the bar area. The front the pub is quieter and seating is easier to come by. Staff are quick and the pints are fine. If it's 5pm on a Friday and you're on Grey Street and fancy a wee tipple, it's the best by far.

The Centurion, Newcastle

Certainly one of the prettiest station pubs I've been in. If you catch it at a quiet period and have some time to while away before your train then this is definitely worth a visit dor a drink (or two, or...). Careful though: like all station pubs the pints can be on the expensive side.

The Lonsdale, Jesmond

Agree with all below. Right next to the Metro and they tend to show sports when other pubs simply can't be bothered (Heineken Cup matches etc). Good atmosphere, fast efficient staff and a pretty decent pint of Guinness to boot. Popular with both regulars and students. Long may it continue.

Duke Of Wellington, Gosforth

Completely agree with last review (17th Apr 09). My local too but only due to it's proximity - I prefer the County on Gosforth High Street. Food is the typical re-heated/microwaved stuff you get in these two-for-one pubs. Staff are fast and friendly, and the pints are quite good, even the Guinness is of a reasonable quality. Certainly lacks atmosphere, and the live band who were playing the last time I was there seemed completely out of place and drove patrons to the other side of the pub. Overall it's ok if you just want to pop out and have a couple of pints in the evening.

The County, Gosforth

Certainly my favourite of all the Gosforth pubs. The recent changeover hasn't made much of a difference for me as I'm not a fan of the real ales, preferring a good pint of the black stuff instead - which to be honest is not that bad in this pub. Seating is comfortable, and the pub is always nicely busy giving it a warm atmosphere. I often use this pub as a meeting point before going to the local restaurants and it's always been a winner with my guests.

The Job Bullman, Gosforth

5 staff, 6 waiting customers and it took me 20mins to get served. 3 of the staff were simply cleaning and rearranging the bar, in full "looking-busy-but-avoiding-serving" mode. Pints were flat and weak. Floors sticky. If it's quantity over quality you're after then this is the place. Otherwise, steer clear.

The Victory, South Gosforth

This pub could really be a wonderful, warm local. Instead, either through lack of effort or motivation, it feels dank and un-inviting. Staff appear slow or simply inexperienced and the pints taste flat. A real shame.

The Brandling Villa, South Gosforth

I pop in from time to time and the recent change of management has added a welcome improvement. It feels brighter and airier, and the quality of the food has certainly been moved up a notch (prices are good too). Staff were chatty and friendly, but toilets are (as ever) badly in need of a revamp. Not busy at all, but might get more lively if patrons return. Worth stopping by if you're after a quiet pint on comfy couches.
