Popped in again after a few months away and was happy to see the place still lives up to my expectations.
The best in the area.
Great beer and the Winter Warmer is spot on.
Staff have changed but still great service.(same Landlord for years)
Had a meal with friends and thoroughly enjoyed my Steak Pie while i was jealous of my mate who had the Venison meat balls ( reccomended)
Will be back.

Over a year since last visited DDs.
Happy to say no change in the consistant good service.
Great atmosphere and Stiil great pint of Special.

HA HA HA HA HO HO HO HO WHAT IS THIS PLACE.
NOT ONE PERSON WORKING HERE SHOULD HAVE A JOB IN HOSPITALITY.
I AM GOING TO SET UP A TRAINING COURSE AND USE THIS PUB AS THE ---HOW NOT TO DO IT ---- SECTION.
Come on people,,, after the make over you should have got rid of the dross and employed a Hospitality trained manager who waas capable of employing and training staff in basic Hello how are you today and what can i get you.HA HA HA shame shame.
Any one with an ounce of decency would leave.

Another Ex co Or a ex London used car salesman who between him and his Chef { ha ha ha } wife think they can run a pub.
What a load of crap.
Were did the money come from and how on earth was permition given by any pub co for this to happen,
Dont bother i already know the answer.

I DON'T GET THE REAL FUNNY NAME BIT.
IT IS A WORLD FAMOUS PUB WITH THE HISTORY BIULT AROUND.... DIRTY DICK nick name for Nathanial Bentley. circa 1745.
look up the history and you will understand.
Out of all the pubs in the area i rate DDs one of the most friendly.
not for the people who think the word dick can only mean one think.
By the way. Is your name Richard??????

Once again as a local i tried to get served in this pub.
Waited a while then the barman started serve someone who had just walked up to the bar.
Have decided to give up for good and move my custom to the outside area of The Anchor Bankside.
Although the Anchor is a $%�^& hole,
At least you get served in order and save money on the round.

Fantastic PUB,
Lets hope it stays this way and the Pub co is not allowed to change it.
Enjoy the atmosphere especialy on a Friday pm.
Draught Leffe left me a bit wobbly though.

Re zuzanna and Stout Chappie.
I totally agree with zuzanna and think the customer sevice is paramount to all when visting any business dealing in hospitality.
Having visited this amazingly bad establismemt i have noticed all the bad points (loads) mentioned in the previous comments but none of the good.
The old chap in question is the manager and behaves exactly how zuzanna and other people have stated.I work in the area and do not need to mention other establishments save to say they are all better than this one.
The one saving grace to this very bad excuse for a pub is that it has an exit.
I also think that all companys take complaints seriously whenever they receive them apart from the crap holes that Stout Chappie drinks in.
