This is still very much a restaurant (2015). No signs of it being a pub again, which leaves The Waterend Barn as the only Wetherspoons Pub now in St Albans.

Real Ale tends to run out too often nowdays (2015). The food is still very good but you have to wait a while for it.

Now a Greene King "Meet & Eat" pub, good value, excellent steaks. Real Ale is IPA plus one other which alternates between Abbots and a Guest Ale. Comfortable décor now it has been re-furbished.

Typical Table-Table Pub, joined to a Premier Inn. Can often find Fullers London Pride on the bar.

Became The Ashcroft Arms then closed in Spring 2014. It may become a Morrison's Supermarket.

I passed by last night and can confirm that "The Cross Keys" is now being re-decorated and re-vamped to be re-opened soon as an upmarket Bar & Grill.
So the only Wetherspoon Pub remaining in St Albans is "The Waterend Barn" which has extended it's range of real ale with barrels behind the bar.
I was told by a member of staff that this is to be a permanent feature.

Closed as of 31st May, 2012. Unusual for Wetherspoon's to sell a pub, but they are concentrating on their other St Alban's pub "The Waterend Barn" just down the road at The Maltings. Rumour has it that "The Cross Keys" HAS been sold to another Pub Chain and will remain a drinking establishment.

Luton's newly re-furbished pub which is pleasant to sit eat and drink in, has good food and is now Luton's FIRST Non-Smoking Pub. Worth a visit. Totally different to the Wyvern that used to be here!

Perhaps we were unlucky, but arriving at 12.00pm on a Saturday and waiting 40 minutes for a couple of baguettes seemed a bit rich to me!!
