I love this pub. It's a really smart place to have as your local - the staff are really friendly, the food is great and well priced, they have a great selction of wines. There's never any trouble and no one has the attitude that you get so much in places around Purley/Croydon. My friends and I always have a fun, relaxed evening whenever we come in here, which is quite often!

I have mixed feelings about Walkabout. The music is really good - especially on a Saturday night when they have live bands - but it's possibly the dirtiest bar I have even been into. The floor is always covered in beer - at one point when I was last there my shoe was literally stuck to the floor - and the girls toilets are absolutely vile. I've never had any attitude from anyone while I've been there but I have noticed that a lot of people get chucked out. The bouncers aren't very nice either - they just glare at you when you hand them your ID and they are very heavy handed with people, which I understand if people are getting rowdy but they threw this one guy out for just knocking a drink over and four of them dragged him out by his arms and legs. But despite all this I always have a really good time whenever I'm there and the bar staff are great, they really do try and serve you as quickly as possible. It's a decent place to spend an evening in my opinion, just don't wear your best shoes!!!!

I do like Tiger Tiger but I think recently it's just become the best of a bad bunch in Croydon. I remember when it opened it was meant to be quite exclusive and had a really strict door policy but it's not like that at all anymore. The door staff are really nice though and - shock horror - even smile and chat to you as you're queueing! It is overpriced but it's nice inside and the people that go there are no where near as horrific as the people you get in Lloyds or Yates. If I do end up going to Croydon, which isn't often anymore, then it's Tiger I'll head to and 99% of the time I'll have a good night.

The attitude in this place is appalling. The bouncers are extremely rude, the last time I went one guy was so busy letting 20 of his mates jump the queue that he didn't bother to ID any of the 15 year olds who were in front of me (I know they were 15 as they are friends with my little sister!), then wouldn't let my 22-year-old friend in as she only had her student card with her. Once inside, the place is full of blokes who are only out because they want to fight and girls who feel overdressed in anything other than their underwear. My mate who had the dubious pleasure of going to the gent's toilets found two blokes doing lines in there - nice. Granted, the drinks are cheap but after 10pm you can't get the near the bar anyway so it doesn't make much difference. The music is good but if you visit more than once you realise that they play the same songs in the same order every week. Horrible, horrible, horrible - if you are a nice, normal person (i.e. not a chav/wannabe gangster/coke head) then avoid at all costs.

I used to come to this pub all the time and I think it has changed hands recently as standards have certainly slipped. It used to be a decent pub with reasonably-priced, good quality food but not any more. The quality of the food is abysmal and everything quite obviously goes straight from the freezer into the microwave. The white wine is very overpriced and is always served warm, the 'summer special' Pimms is an absolute rip off and one of the bar staff is so surly that he looks like he's about to spit on you when he comes to serve you. On the plus side my boyfriend tells me the lager is a decent price and it has good facility for kids but in my opinion it is definitely a pub to be avoided!

I went to Sand Bar for the first time last weekend and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Granted, the door staff didn't give me and my boyfriend the warmest of welcomes but once inside I thought the decor and music were cool, the cocktails were gorgeous and the bar staff really efficient and friendly. The only criticism I would make is that in all the time we were there no one came round to clear the glasses away which meant that there were a lot being knocked over and smashed. Overall though I really rated Sand Bar and I will definitely return.

The White Bear, Fickleshole
I've been to this pub a few times and have always had a really good time. It's better when the weather's warm so you can sit outside but that's not to say it's not nice inside. There's a great selection of food which is tasty and served in generous portions and the wine selection is very good. The only criticism is that the soft drinks are served in ridiculously small glasses which makes them quite expensive for what you get. But on the whole the White Bear is definitely worth a visit.
