The Black Bear Hotel, Wareham

@loiner8 - Maybe the Thumper went to your head a little... what is a Ringwood Badger??? Two breweries, not a beer mate.

The Bald Faced Stag, East Finchley

kaiser -

i moved away from E.Finchley 5years ago, but am pleased to hear that the stag is still being run in the same fashion! i remember only too well that all customers trying to order food (be it a steak or just a portion of chips) were frequently told it'd take between 45-60mins!! and that it'd not really be worth the wait!! even heard the landlord say this on more than one occasion! i did pass comment about what they must have been doing in the kitchen, as the place was less than a third full at the time! don't get me wrong, i used to love the place for a pint & a game of pool before going into town, but as far as grub is concerened, i always just went over the road for rock&chips mate

The Antelope Inn, Wareham

absolutely awful! what more should i say? this used to be an half decent premises, but the obvious lack of knowledge/care here is appalling! the staff can hardly be blamed here, as the governor is worse behind the bar than them! as far as the ales are concerned, this is definatley one to avoid. i even traded mine in for a guinness (at extra cost & with no apology) and couldn't bear to drink more than sa couple of sips of that! Total ineptitude!

surely Enterprise Inns, who I believe own the business can't be prepared to put up with this can they?! Is it just myself, or do town pubs seem to be going downhill fast? Maybe they are only interested in the 18-25 bottle of WKD type of customer nowadays, but come on, how hard is it to keep cask ale in good condition? not very, i think its all a matter of pride in your products and your standards. I therefore will not be rating this pub very generously.

Kings Arms, Wareham

warehams only traditional drinking hole left.

Great ales - good old fashioned pub grub homecooked by landlady Julia - great locals - great character

A must visit pub. Ale quality alone speaks volumes for what landlady considers important in a boozer.

The cleanest beerlines in the west! 10/10

The Inn on the Furlong, Ringwood

the furlong has indeed changed hands.. new landlord & landlady, and of course, new governing company (marstons). But, things aren't going to change for the worse.. the planned refurb at the end of 2008 is being overseen by the landlord and not the 'suits from wolverhampton' ...the plan is to retain the character of the inn & NOT to make it look like every other pub in one of the ever growing chains that are swallowing up the industry. Beers remain unchanged too. No Pedigree here.. just the full range of Ringwood brews (including the comeback of 78 by much popular demand this month, and the seasonal ales too). Food is also a priority too now, with a fully qualified chef producing homemade pub fair with flair, and fresh fish & meat specials chalked up throughout the bars.
The main change in the Furlong now is the lack of 'riff-raff'and trouble. The clientele base is now as varied age-wise as before, but with no tolerance from management & staff for any 'problem customers'. The atmosphere is therefore lively yet friendly.

Well worth a visit (or for those who've known this pub from before, a re-visit)
