Casa, Bournemouth

STOP PRESS-
The LONG overdue refurb is set to happen at the end of this month (although closing during the summer months is surely a bit of a waste of money for them?)
It is to become the new "Slug and Lettuce", the current one is to be re-branded as "Label"
Be interesting to see if it does well....

Daisy O'Briens, Bournemouth

It's only little but size isn't everything...
Really friendly, cosy place. Mike and Simon, the managers, are sound blokes who will always make you feel welcome. Good Guinness too (obviously!)

The Inferno, Bournemouth

It's a good pub, obviously aimed at students but anyone else is welcome. Always found the staff friendly and they have a couple of pool tables which is a bit of a rarity round here. Food's cheap as chips(!) and is tasty too. Be warned, although Mondays are a quid a drink, it's students only (unless you're mates with one of the staff ;-)

Bar Me, Bournemouth

I agree with ellie1985 but all she needed to put was simply DON'T GO THERE!

If you need any reasons for this please see below.

Walkabout, Bournemouth

Oh, Walkabout, let's see, where do we start?
The violent, aggressive doorstaff keen to use excessive force when a quiet word in the ear will often do the job(many of whom where working illegally without licenses up until recently, a fact which led to a 15 grand fine for Walkabout)? But will allow random blokes to touch up girls in your group RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM and then when you try and stop the idiots, you get thrown out for your trouble!
The staff who despite the fact that there are always around 20 of them behind the bar, can't serve you in less than half an hour?
The floor which is stickier than superglue?
Their abandonment of all morals and ethics when selling booze to people that have clearly had enough already (hence all the fights, bottlings, spilled drinks, etc.) but it's ok, cos they rake in the cash!
Following on from above, selling a drink (Snakebite), which you can't get in most other pubs because of it's known properties (ie will get you destroyed very quickly and tends to turn Joe Bloggs into the next Mike Tyson) at a stupidly cheap price and making a night out of it?
The entrance policy (the more stag goups the better- we want to see blood-spilt!)?
The fact that the council have 500 (yes 500) pages of evidence (fights, breaking the law, etc.)against this shoddy hole which will clearly not be around for much longer?
No the worst is their whinging that they are being made a scapegoat and being picked on by the council!
Nah, sorry guys, but you brought it all on yourselves!
My only regrets with it closing are that the bloke who sells aftershave in the Gents (the friendliest and least pushy loo attendant in Bournemouth)is going to lose his job as a result; that it's one less live music venue in Bournemouth (not that ever held a candle to the others); and the worst- all the idiots who regularly go to Walkabout will have nowhere else to go and inevitably come to all the good places and try to drag them down. My prayer is that they wont be allowed in!!
Bye Bye Walkabout! Amazed you even lasted this long!

Bar Vin, Bournemouth

In a word, quality.

The Slug and Lettuce, Bournemouth

This is a good bar (definitely not a pub) but a good bar, none-the-less. A definite favourite with the local white collar types, although others (like us normal people!) are welcome. The food is very pricey, but absolutely delicious; you get what you pay for in life! Good beer, as well.
It's a little bit "too cool for school" but nowhere near as bad as Toko,Bliss,Karma, et al.
The barmaids (and a lot of the female customers) are absolutely gorgeous, as well!

Fruit, Bournemouth

This is a brilliant place for a late drink (or even an earlier one!)Staff have a great sense of humour and treat you like an old friend (unless if you are an idiot-then you are quickly shown the door-thank god)The managers (Lee and Adam, I think?) know how to run an excellent bar! My one criticism (and it is a really minor one) is the range of draught lagers is pretty small but hey it's a vodka bar so we'll let them off!

The Litten Tree, Bournemouth

The photo above is out of date, it had a refurb last year. So now its a shiny new toilet instead of being an old rubbish one! A toilet's still a toilet though.....
Good place to come if you want to get bottled by a lagered up "footie" hooligan when there's a game on. Real footie fans (the non-thugs) go to Bar Vin for a good, non-violent, atmosphere.

O'Neills, Bournemouth

I've been coming here most weekends and the odd weeknight since I moved to Bournemouth amd I love the place! Since the Gander died and it looks like the Villa seems to be going the same way, this must be the only real place to see live music in central Bournemouth (not counting the broom cupboard in the Triangle-you know where I mean!)If your a live music fan, like me, then this is the place to come (especially as I heard they're starting live music on more nights soon-maybe every night?) Yeah, it looks a bit scruffy and shabby from the outside; and it's definitely nothing like any of those soul-less trendy style bars (Karma, Toko, Bliss)-THANK GOD! but inside are some of the friendliest people I've ever met (staff AND drinkers!) The people who put that the staff are rude- what did you do to upset them???!!? I have always been treated like an old mate whenever I come here (even the first time!-that's one of the reasons I kept coming back!) and they even serve you drinks at your table something that I've never had in any other pub. I have seen people removed for being downright abusive/violent to the barstaff or other customers, but isn't that how it should be everywhere? At least you know they wont let any idiots bother you (unlike, ooh, every other pub on Old Christchurch Rd, except Fruit and Bar Vin, maybe?)And even when they do remove people, the staff and doormen don't "throw" people out; they just talk them into going, (unlike, ooh, AGAIN!, every other pub on Old Xchurch Rd, except Fruit and Bar Vin!) Oh and the Beer Garden's great on a hot day.
