Not bad at all - pretty busy for a Thursday night but they did have two Christmas parties in there (in November?). Decent pint of Spitfire and London Pride on hand pulls plus several lagers etc. Food was good. Smallish portions and not cheap, but tasted good anyway!

The Lincolnshire Poacher, Nottingham
What can you say about "The Poacher" - It HAS to be one of the best pubs in England! Spent last Friday night there drinking Hemlock - which was superb! Great staff, they never complain even when extremely busy, great beer, good food and good company - you can't beat it!

I visited the Red Lion on Tuesday evening as I was staying nearby and read the recommendations here. Now I wonder if I was in the correct place! Staff were friendly enough, but the food was mediocre and there was only one cask ale - Courage Best Bitter which was O.K., but I suspect not well kept.

The Royal Exchange, Paddington
We stayed in the Paddington area for two nights on a recent visit to England (from the USA). Went here the first night - Brakspear and Greene King IPA cask both very good. Food was excellent - the Steak & Murphys pie is higly recommended, as are the roasts. VERY fair prices on both food and beer. Staff were friendly and attentive, but not "chatty" - customers were also friendly.
We liked it so much we went back the second night! - Highly recommended!

Excellent ham sandwich on thick, crusty bread! Possibly the best pub sandwich I have ever been served - good beer too!

The Gate Inn, Sutton cum Lound
No longer serves food. Pleasant host, but a pub that looks and feels old. Beer was fair, but nothing exciting!

The Cross Keys, Nottingham
A pint of Navigation "Traditional" for £2.50, great atmosphere and busy but not overcrowded - hard to beat!
