The King Edward VII, Stratford

Has gone badly downhill. The place smells,is dirty and the prices have risen steeply. It also seems that the management are happy for the less desirable elements in Stratford to drink here, which might explain the claret all around the gents last Saturday. Rapidly turning from the best pub in Stratford to the equivalent of the Goose, only worse

The Six Bells, Fulbourn

Popped in last Monday lunchtime en route to our holiday in Suffolk and had a very nice pint of Wherry ( Would've had more but was driving :o( ) . Wife had the game casserole and I had the pork & duck pie. Both very good indeed. Very friendly and good example of what a village pub should be.

The King Edward VII, Stratford

" suprisingly quiet on a sat afternoon - solihullmaniac - 10 Apr 2011 17:11"

That's cos we're at the Boleyn Ground watching the Irons !! Have been drinking in the Eddy now for 28 years and it's still the best boozer in Stratford if you like decent beer.

The Angelic, Islington

Previously known as The George and a proper boozer it was with decent beer and pub food. Now a "gastropub" ie not good enough to be a restaurant and ideas above its station as somewhere serving alcohol.

White Horse, Bourne End

Absolutely agree with Colin64. Whilst I empathise with Monkdawallydahonk's comments about kids in pubs, I've never seen any badly behaved ones in the White Horse and in these days of pubs closing down weekly surely it's a good thing that they're brought up to understand and take advantage of what a ( good ) pub represents to a community so that as many as possible remain open for the next generation of ale drinkers ?

Ye Olde Watling, Mansion House

A nice surprise !! Good selection of beers / ciders particularly South West based tonight ( Tribute, Doombar )

Paper Mill, Hemel Hempstead

Not sure why the other person rating the Papermill gave it such a low rating without actually specifying why. Nothing particularly wrong with the place. It's nice to sit outside by the canal on a summers afternoon / evening and the beer isn't bad. They hold an annual beer festival which features some fairly interesting stuff ( though it has to be said that most of the people there seem to be lager drinkers and so unappreciative). My only real gripe is the prices are a bit higher than other pubs in the area, but that's Fullers for you I guess

The Marchmont Arms, Hemel Hempstead

Refurbed about a year ago and has a nice big garden which is really nice in summer. Landlord and Adnams currently on tap along with various lagers and good food selection. Very kindly reserved space at short notice for a few of us to have a beer or two after me and 'er indoors got married recently.

Swan, Hemel Hempstead

Apparently this has reopened following a refurbishment. Haven't been in there so far

Mcmullens pub serving good food including specials which usually include at least one fish dish. Staff very friendly. Big garden area at the back as well as a patio with covered tables.
