Always a great range of ales.
The food did go through a phase of taking itself a bit too seriously, but the drinking/eating balance seems pretty good now.
Arrive early for seats in the garden on summer weekends.

Now trading under its original name as The Woolpack.
Theres' a large beer garden at the back which is a great place to meet up in the summer in preference to the trendier altenatives on Bermondsey Street.

The Crown and Sceptre, Streatham
Still a reliable enough Wetherspoons during the week, and it carries a very good range of real ales, but I now avoid at the weekends. It fills up with people who spend the whole day in there getting very drunk very cheaply (many of them exiles from Brixton Hill boozers now converted to DJ bars/style venues for 18-30s).
BTW - apparently it was only Norman Hartnell

Still a reliable option for real beer in Brixton
NB The rear beer garden closes at 9.00 prompt. Chucking out time has to rigorously enforced because of over-sensitive neighbours.

Seems to have settled down under a new manager. There are perhaps fewer real ales than a few years ago, but at least they are selling and in decent condition.

Service remains appalling too much of the time (although some individuals behind the bar do their best). This pub is only busy because they can rely on a combination of tourists and those Whitehall civil servants without the nous to have their promotion or leaving dos in a better venue.

The Holland Tringham, Streatham
It's a better bet in the summer months. There is a decently sized terrace out the back which is a quiet retreat from the noise of Streatham High Road.
The clientele is a bit more mixed these days.

I'd agree it doesn't look as cared for as it used to, and I don't visit as much as I used to since Young's hiked the prices, but it's still an attractive place.

Baroque, Streatham
The pub formerly known as the Genevieve hasn't been Baroque for some time.
It is now trading as "Mint", but still seems to be more of a bar than a pub.
