No nonsense Irish boozer downstairs, nice restauranrt upstairs (if a lifttle pricey for the surroundings). Perfect for standing outside at the end of a day in the office. The best thing about the bar is the staff. They actually come round looking for people whose glasses are getitng a bit low (even if you're outside on the pavement), take your order and bring it over to you. Why doesn't everywhere do that?
Oh, and they sell the best pint of Guiness I've found in London.

The Pontefract Castle, Marylebone
The dreaded "work's local." I really think we only go here because everyone always goes here. Attractive enough place - interesting layout, usually somewhere to sit on one of the three levels (plus basement). However, you come back to work stinking of everyone else's fags (ever heard of AC guys?) and lately, the food service has taken a major dive. Time for a change of allegiance.

The Swan Hotel, Thame
Really old, quirky pub by the main market area. The bar decor is a wierd jumble of mismatched old furniture, posters and notices - old butcher's blocks and mangles instead of tables etc. Good food in the bar, an open fire on cold days lots of guest beers. Dog friendly!
