The Kilvert's Hotel, Hay on Wye

I was in Hay for a week last summer and spent pretty much every afternoon in the garden with a pint of Guinness and the day's book haul. Amazingly good pizza, too.

Terrible beer, but cheap with a student discount and the garden's really nice in the summer.

The Marquis of Granby, New Cross

Avoid on St Patrick's Day unless you enjoy being groped by dodgy old men. Otherwise a glorious pub. Very good for watching the football; often they have two different matches on at once which is fun. Added bonus for me of being just round the corner so I don't have to cross any roads to get home. Tends to be full of Goldsmiths students with terrible haircuts but don't let that put you off.
