This is probably one of the only places in Tamworth to get a decent real ale, except for wetherspoons which has problems I wont go into now. It generally has two guest ales on which come with great service. The stairs upto the toilets are steep reminding you how old the building really is. A top class joint that I dont visit enough!

The Church End Brewery Tap, Nuneaton
Another great brewery/pub in the area. I believe that church end brewery moved from the Griffin pub many years ago to these new premises. But anyway back to the point.
As i have stated church end is a brewery that has 8 different ales on at a time. If non of these tickle your fancy then you can look at some more of the beers brewed on premises that you can find bottled in the fridges along with a host of European beers. Including the delightful BarBar.

I have only recently discovered the Griffin after years of trawling the local area for good pubs and I was plesently suprised. Not only does it have possibly the best selection of real ales in the area, the atmosphere is of true English countryside pub. Something the Americans come looking for but rarely find, let alone us Brits in the present age.
I am yet to sample the food but as long as they have a steak pie or a good sarnie then my rating for this pub remains at 10.
Oh and also they have a great collection of beermats attached to the beams, and if you are like me, you will find it very interesting. It took me a few good pints/hours to pick my favourite mat.
P.S Try the black magic women, its a dark ale (which i am normally not that fond of) that is surpassed by non. Also nice name, thanks Santana.

The SO cafe bar, Tamworth
It has re-opened but is more like a bistro bar. However it has a nice atmosphere, reasonable prices and well served beer (if not a bit limited) Worth a visit with the family for a meal and a quiet pint.
