The Corner Store, Covent Garden

This pub is closed - it's now a Byron Burger restaurant

The Lyceum, Strand

Real tourist trap pub this. Beer not in great nick to be honest, and it's Old Brewery/Sam Smiths, so don't expect anything "mainstream".

My rating of 5 reflects the fact that it's one of the few pubs in the area to have a dartboard (it's well lit and at the right height too!).

The Savoy Tup, Strand

Go to this pub if you like your ale in good condition, but don't expect all 3 to be on at once.

Bring your own food policy is great if you camp out in the upstairs room where there is a pool table and a dimly lit dartboard. More than a bit cold upstairs, but a better option for arrows than the Lyceum over the road. Downstairs nice and cosy, and a lot better than upstairs which has seen better days.

Bar staff friendly and eager to please, and despite some shortcomings in the pub I'll go back again and again.

The Sportsman, Seasalter

Shepherd Neame pub, beers always in good order and always a seasonal on. The Late Red I had in December 09 was in superb nick.

More a restaurant than a pub, this isn't the place to walk to without the intention of eating. One of the better gastropubs you'll find.

The Fox Inn, Temple Ewell

Good choice of ale, and would be a nice winter pub to visit. Choice of 3 ales when I visited, in good condition. I've heard steak night is raved about.

The Railway Bell, Temple Ewell

Quiet during the day, busy in the evening. Beer in good order, 3 ales on when I went it but think it was a beer festival/promotion.

Nice place to drink, especially if you like it quiet during the day. Stays open all day, unlike some others in the area.

The Royal Oak, River

Shepherd Neame pub, always at least 2 on sale (usually Masterbrew plus the seasonal).

Food good, with large portions, specials were much better than anticipated. A bit dated, but a lovely place to warm yourself after a brisk winter walk.

The Mermaid, Bishopsbourne

Best Masterbrew I've ever had - lovely boozer

The Honor Oak, Honor Oak

Tribute has become the always available ale, and is really well looked after (if you've had it in a bottle, don't be put off as the cask is the real deal).

London Pride is apparently coming in soon, and Rosey Nosey for the Christmas season. Best quality beer in the area, even the lager tastes like it's been looked after.

The Allsop Arms, Marylebone

From the outside, inside decor and clientel (pre England game) I was delighted with the quality of the ale. My lager drinking buddies were impressed with theirs too.

The Victoria and Albert, Marylebone Station

Agree - not the nicest boozer, but the beer was very good and the glasses clean!
