What a shame. This used to be a nice authentic Edinburgh pub with dark wood and an open fire but the place has gone through a make-over making it feel like a souless boozer...

A dreadful and horrible pub. Staff were totally hopeless.
I can't think of anything good to say...

The combination of the other comments describe this place well. As for a laptop area some people (like me) end up travelling and need a spot for lunch, a pint and check the email...

Nicely designed pub which is off the beaten track of Smithfield. I like a quiet pint in a nice environment and this ticks those boxes.
Staff weren't too friendly, but I look like Darwin's missing link so I often get that!

Nice traditional boozer that is tight on space (inside and out). I prefer some elbow room and I'm not fussed about real ales, but apparently they had a good selection and were in good nick.

I like this place. Airy and roomy and you can get a seat which can be hard in the surrounding pubs. Maybe lacking a bot of character, but that's not the end of the world...

Typical City bar - trendy and expensive, but I had an excellent burger with home cooked chips.

Spent 10 mins in there trying to get served. The bar was quiet and there was no queue, but there was only one barmaid on and she was trying to take food orders and serve the tables! It was Saturday afternoon...
Beer wasn't very good and the stools (I tried three) were as wobbly as fcuk! I'm glad I wasn't too "far gone" as the stool would have gotten the better of me!

Decent bar that's usually full of tourist (and stag and hen parties of course).
Well worth a visit if stotting around the Royal Mile.

Nice pub which is very rugby orientated. Well worth a visit compared to the bars it's beside - Melvilles (like a working man's club) and Bert's Bar (lit like a hospital).

Best pub in Tranent (which isn't saying too much). Friendly staff, cheap booze and level pool table. Very much a locals boozer, but their too old or too drunk to take exception to strangers!
Good big TVs too.

Dreadful bar. I live in the town and have been in here three times:
The first involved some guy challenging me to a fight within 60 seconds of being at the bar (I declined as it was 3pm on a Sunday afternoon).
The second time was OK (if you enjoy being ignored by the bar staff that are standing idle only feet away) and the second time.
The third was spent trying to ignore two guys (about 45-50 yrs old) punching each other.
Avoid.

This pub is now closed. I don't know if this a temporary thing, but local gossip tells me that the baliffs have been a knocking...

I was in Brum on my own and found this place. Sat by the open doors watching the PGA golf and being served by a lovely lady. This was a quiet Thursday evening, so I can't comment on what it's like at the weekend.

Excellent bar with thumping heavy music and an alternative crowd.

Ace little place that is very welcoming and relaxing, provided you are free from the scourge of Hen and Stag dos... One group of them can take over the whole place.

Superb food and staff. Just don't walk to the pub as it's up one hell of a hill from Colwyn Bay!

I love this sparse-looking pub and I love their friendly and professional staff (especially Asta!). A good mix of people in a low key atmosphere which is a welcome change to this area.
The pool table is now downstairs and is a bit squashed in for my big elbows!

The Cross Keys, Tranent
Thankfully this hole has closed down. The Keepers across the road or The Tower down Church Street are decent alternatives in Tranent.
