What used to be the grapes if i understand correctly. has a late license and isnt too bad at all which is a welcome addition to york's otherwise ashematic afterhours scene.
plays music you would expect from the name. loudly. interior is a bit weak, i assume its just like it used to be with a few new posters thrown up.

so they dont actually sell beer on tap, is packed full of people with intimidatingly cool hair and clothes who probably dont save whales or rainforests either but look at me condescendingly because it doesnt even occur to me that i should be.
Internet lives upstairs and there is some odd shop setup going on at the front that sells drunk scorpions and tea made by weasels.
It certainly isnt run of the mill.

Hidden away right in the centre, promises so much when you first walk in with its exciting i-am-in-a-tunnel vibe. then turns out to be nothing more than a standard chain pub.
also the further inside you progress the worse it smells. also unfortunately suffers from meathead personality free door staff who begin rudely herding you to the door on the stroke of 11. perhaps they were just trying to save me from the smell.

everyone dresses like vampires and there are no seats. bands that were surely last in line for names can often be seen and unfortunately heard.
ah whatever. still gets a 9 as who am i to dilute everyone elses fun.

This place is pretty cool. you can fall over before you are even drunk thanks to the crazy bent floor.
but then as it gets late the Chris Camara look-a-like bouncer comes out and tells everyone not to look at him funny before saying he has to take your drink away because its 10 to 9 so drinking up time is over and hes only doing his job. prat.

Generic crap wetherspoons.
Useless braindead manager unwilling to engage his admittedly deceased mind to understand that if a customer is attacked in his pub and everyone tells him that and he infact admits that maybe he should apologize RATHER THAN THROW ME OUT.
There is an old guy who often comes in and walks around a bit whose jumper i quite enjoy though, makes me reminisce back to the old days of seafaring and empires that i never experienced. Thats what the one point is for, if you cant see the old guy anywhere deduct the point.

I have only been in once for a quick pint. Landlord or barmen or misplaced passerby or whatever he may have been was polite and instantly helpful with a bit of character at the same time.
beer was good, fair few ales.
didnt see any obvious students.
interesting building too.
