Lovely little pub - good beer and top juke box.
Occasionally spoilt by the huge amount of trendy 60s/70s extras on display - still, you can't have everything...

Ahhh... the Evening Star... If you like beer, this is the place to come.

Jaysus - one of the worst pubs in Brighton. Avoid it like the plague unless you are a casual who enjoys the odd spot of agro.

Great pub this. Good beer - though not much choice. Ate there once and had a superb fish pie.
This pub has a great atmosphere - friendly staff and locals, plus enough seating to kick back and relax.
The Pilchards is a proper village pub that hasn't been mucked about with.

The Noughts and Crosses, Polperro
Cor blimey - popped into every pub in Polperro during our recent week long stay and this is one pub we didn't return to...
Entered the pub and had a bit of a "don't go on the moors" type moment as the tumble weed rolled passed...
Still, beer was good (Betty Stoggs). Menu looked ok, if you like chips with everything.

Just returned from New Year in Polperro and during the week we were there I think we must have eaten at the Blue Peter about 4 or 5 times as it was so good! Locals were very friendly as were the bar staff - who really couldn't have been more helpful.
The beer was excellent - Tribute on every night, plus 3 or 4 other assorted well kept cask ales - like a little mini beer fest!
My only regret was that there wasn't a massive amount of fresh fish on the menu, which I assume was because the boats weren't going out. Still managed to have some of the finest fresh squid I've ever had though.
Keep up the good work. We'll be back!

The Regency Tavern, Brighton
Once the jewel in Brighton's pub crown, the Regency hasn't quite been what it once was since the change in management.
The move from a free house to a tied Shephard and Neame pub was a shame as it means they no longer stock Harveys - a local brew, that the Shep's head brewer could only dream of producing!
Still - a nice civilised retreat from the relatively close horrors of Churchill square. Well worth a visit.
