The Hare and Hounds, East Sheen
i cam here a few sunday's back with the intention of having a nice emal and some drinks with my extended family over from NZ. what we got was not as expected. To start with most dishes on the menu were unavilable, i appreciate this was 4pm on a sunday but they had no beer/pork roasts, no ribs, lasagne et etc. After finally pickign from the 4-5 dishes that were avilable when they turned up they were terrible, all the chips were stone cold and the meat on the roasts was tough. The lady who took our order also screwed that up so 2 of us didnt get tehir food at all. truly awful from start to finish. i wish we had cut our losses and just gone to the pig n whistle around the corner, it may not be 'youngs flash' but the atmosphere and service is streets ahead

Well said claphmmom. i totally agree with your original posting. Gills -if people are to be critised for posting their own opinions on here then that surely defeats the object of this website. also if someone wants to review 8 bars in 30 mins thats their choice, or do we have to abide by certain rules as to when we can and cannot review a pub?
In terms of the bar itself its ok, not great but certainly not poor. however there are better options for a night out up the road.

The Underwriter, City of London
has been taken over and now has a wierd turkish theme? regardless of that i popped in at lunch on a thursday, the place was dead, only 2 other people in there. i ordered a lager which was off. 3 people came in afterwards and ordered the same and the barlady served them even after i had spat mine out minutes before!! safe to say they also though the lager was off, at which point we all left. was an awfully crappy pub this has no become. i give it a few more months still it closes.

The Pig and Whistle, East Sheen
I always used to be a little weary of coming in here as the clientele often seemed intimidating on first glance. How wrong I could have been, this is now my favourite place to come for a drink in sheen now the hare and hound has decided to become a poncy gastro pub.
I have often stopped in to the pig and whistle after work to catch the last few overs whilst the ashes have been on and have felt comfortable grabbing a seat by myself and having a few cold beers.
The only criticism I could give is that the bar area can often be slightly overcrowded with fellow punters supping their ales at the bar which can make ordering a bit of a hassle. Other than that keep up the good work guys!!

The Hare and Hounds, East Sheen
I had eagerly been anticipating the Hare to reopen after such a lengthy time being refurbished.
Unfortunately when the day came to visit what used to be my favourite local for a beer I was bitterly disappointed. I understand that many pubs these days are heading along the modern route of gastro food and drink but it feels like the heart and soul of this pub has been ripped out. Agreed it looks impressive in there but it distinctly lacks any real character, and whats with renaming the saloon bar the Belinni lounge, its Sheen not Soho!!
The bar staff seemed ok at first glance but when asked if they would be showing the England v Australia ODI match I was told they wouldnt be. This being in a pub where I would often go for a few pints to watch whatever sport they would be showing in a relaxing atmosphere!
Id say if you are looking for a decent pub in east sheen which is clean, has some atmosphere and isnt trying to be pretentious then the pig and whistle is now the place to be. If you want a posh pub meal come here!!

totally agree, pub is way too expensive for what you get, full of kids or locals with attitude.
shame, the only reason it attracts so many customers is that its one of the few pubs in Shep with Sky. the place has potential with its location
only go there if you are willing to spend 20 on 5 pints

this is really quite a poor pub mainly catering for the pikey community of shepperton.
beer and food is cheap but the quality does reflect that.
best to avoid unless your having a quick pint before getting the train

Staff not overly friendly, bordering on rude on the last few times i've attended. pub and staff seem to have a sense on entitlement. numerous bette roptions if you venture further down the high st
