The Globe on the Lake, Alresford
Such a refreshing change. Clean, light and airy. Staff seemed pleased to see us and offered brilliant service. We had Sunday roast which was probably one of the best ones I've ever tasted. Amazing value in a town where most things seem to be over priced. Will be back.

The Eclipse Inn, Winchester
Visited after a tour round cathedral. Good beer with an excellent lunch. Nice to find somewhere that does homemade food that lacks the pretensions of the gastro pub. A very enjoyable time. Good service although the barman was a little too camp for my taste.
