For all of the 'Hub of the Community' rhetoric from Mr Howard in past posts it appears that the real warm welcoming establishments in Wendover are both of Mrs Gower's public houses; namely the White Swan and the Pack Horse.
This is exceptional achievement by The Pack Horse, particularly, and the White Swan as they do not serve food!

I no longer visit here and I know tabasco boy poster has left the village because of the abuse.
Strange that Danny11 has only ever posted on the Red Lion and no other pub. A Red Lion staff member?

This is bad news.
One of the better points about the Red Lion is that Doraisamy was not allowed on the premises, so we were safe. He is certainly the most violent and irritating "Peace Campaigner" I've ever encountered.
The Red Lion has now lost my family's custom.

I have not seen any abusive language on the Wendover pages other than from the myskolive family. Words like Weirdo and Creep and worse came from you nobody else, and are here for all to see and judge. The irate tenor of your posts leads me to believe Mr Zwemmer and others.
The King and Queen has a very good chef and it is fresh food just as is the Red Lion.
I also like real ale beer on rotation as guest it is very nice and both establishments do this.

Myskolive your response is fatuous and insulting in the extreme.
Do you have the courage to tell the management that you are the the myskolive poster making defamatory and untruthful attacks on these pages at this hotel which has seen an impressive turnaround in the last year.
The King and Queen which you praise is also an acceptable public house.
I think you are fomenting acrimony and rivalry where none exists in the village.
This is a very infantile and irresponsible attitude and does not reflect the attitude of the customers of either establishment.

Mr Myskolive poster, I defy you to introduce yourself in person to the Red Lion management.

I agree with the scissorkicks post.
I would add that it is very telling when the regulars of this pub make a point of attacking other posters on the Wendover public house pages then keep overstating the 'warm welcome' of the King and Queen.
How can such people be welcoming?

I think it is self apparent that the posters myskolive and bibasmummy from the immediate entries below are one and the same. The biker poster I do not think lives in the area and has not been to any of the public houses in Wendover in recent times.

The Cross Keys, Great Missenden
Very quickly, this I find:
'Crossed keys, the symbol of Saint Peter. When "cross keys" occur as a place or pub name, there will often be an association with St. Peter, eg. the dedication of the local church'

The Cross Keys, Great Missenden
Pleased to treat the family to a meal and afternoon relaxation at the the bar in the Cross Keys. An interesting old English name which I must research.

The party on that evening mentioned were celebrating a birthday and were no trouble at all in the other Wendover pubs they visited.
I am thinking maybe a car parking charge would keep your undesirables out, perhaps?

A very average pub and meals are okay, but I do not think worth the sychophantic overpraise it seems to receive.

Four years ago at Christmas I was to stay when I moved to the area but the hotel had no heating and rooms in poor repair. I moved on to a bed and breakfast with family near.
That was then; this is now a very fine renovated hotel and I was happy to enjoy a meal yesterday, with courteous service.

I make a mistake last posting. An old fashioned English pub (I am from Ghana). Fullers beer is not a personal favourtite of mine but well kept and with one beer rotating as guest.

This looked promising from the pictures but I did not bother to stay and have a drink or meal.
Atmosphere, I think, is severely absent.

Informed of the fayre and the quantity of real ale choice I have finaly made it to the Hop Pole. It is off the beaten track for me in these precints but I am happy I have now visited.
I do not think past reputation anymore counts. It is now a very good place and I particularly like the pizzas variety.

Good seafood menus though I had pie of the day and very good.
I think the staff and restaurant service could probably be more attentive to a customer but I shall not want to criticise on this alone.

Ye Olde George Inn, Christchurch
Quaint is the word here, very old building with courtyard. The choice of ale is very good kept and I do like to eat out at places such as this one.
*Thanks Sinead and staff

I think this is very pleasant and the food has that home prepared flavour. A country farmhouse style of cooking.
I have not seen the hand pulled stout on draught before, not for a session I think more with a meal.
Very good all around.

bibabsmummy,
cyber bullying and insulting abuse of someone is hardly relevant to the King and Queen it it?

The Red Lion Hotel, Wendover
I have learned a hard lesson; if you visit Wendover expect degenerate people and abuse.
Martin Howard and Marstons, you will not ever get the opportunity to patronise me because I am black African.
