The Cat's Back, Wandsworth

I moved to the area specifically for this pub. It does a lot of things right - the atmosphere is good (although the landlord is frankly a bit of a tosser - the comments below ARE from regulars), the decor is good and some of the staff are very good (some are very poor too). What I take real umbrage with is the fact they never clean their pipes. I've been ill on more than one occasion after visiting (sadly not down to too much beer), as have friends. It's dissapointing, but I now avoid the place.

The Dukes Head, Putney

So dissapointing on so many levels. Poor food, Poor service, Poor Beer. Go to the Bricklayers around the corner and see what a real pub is like. I'm rating it 2, and that's purely for location.

Royal Oak, Fritham

Excellent ales and food. A lovely looking pub, (if it was my local I could not be happier), great location, friendly attentive staff, what more can you ask for.

The Waterloo Arms, Lyndhurst

Extremely poor service, accompanied by pretty inedible overpriced food. This is the kind of place that lets down British tourism. Avoid

The Victoria, Battersea

It's a delight to go into a pub where the landlords really know what they are doing. They've created an oasis of pubdom in the desert of pubdom that is Battersea. What do you want in a pub? Friendly attractive staff: tick; good well kept beer: tick; excellent atmosphere/mix of locals; tick, well-priced and well-cooked food: tick; pub dog and interesting events: tick. If you're in the area visit it.

The Harp, Covent Garden

What a great place Binnie runs. Whilst I try to avoid the centre of town if I do get dragged there a trip to the Harp is sure to brighten my spirits. Lovely ales, good atmosphere and fantastic O'Hagans' sausages.

The Bricklayers Arms, Putney

Dear Putney Landlords,
Please come and visit the Bricklayers to see how a pub should be run. It's friendly, reasonably priced, with clean pipes, an outstanding beer collection, lovely food, attentive interesting staff. Why can't the rest of pubs in Putney do it like this?
Many thanks, Gileyboy (Putney drinker).

The Telegraph , Putney Heath

I agree with RexRattus, definitely mixed feelings. Pricy, but reasonable quality gastrofood and drink. Safe, but slightly sloany atmosphere. Nice place to go for the Brooks Blues, but missing that 'something' you get when you walk through the doors of a good pub. Lovely location, if difficult to get to. Hope you get my slighly rambling point

The Angel, Roehampton

Quite frankly a horrible experience. I've drunk in many pubs over the years in the UK and abroad and hate that this is my local. Unfriendly, unclean, unattractive - thank God this has been scheduled for a refurb (although God knows what Youngs will do to it). Ignore the expensive Telegraph, get down the hill into Putney to the Bricklayers or the Cat's Back.

The Bricklayers Arms, Putney

What a great pub. Fantastic, excellently kept beer, and a great atmosphere even when it's quiet. I really can't think of anything to complain about. And 3 a pint is extremely good value for Putney.
