The Half Moon, Bishop's Stortford
hmm.. I quite like the missing plaster, etc! Not a pub for refined tastes, more a studenty, slightly alternative vibe. Ok beers, good music nights on week days (look at web site) and an alternative 'disco' every first saturday of the month, I think. I like it though wish they'd host more music at weekends

The Boars Head, Bishops Stortford
beautiful pub, could do so much better- where's the live music to match the size and structure of the building? It needs it. Shite beer selection too but an atmospheric old place, full of teenagers!

The Prince of Wales, Green Tye
I'm a local of a nearby village and this pub is fantastic - on the right night. During the day it's friendly, child friendly and the fire is always burning on cold days. The in-house brewer lives nearby with his family and is passionate about his craft- I love the 'Hadham Gold' and there are always a couple of their ales on tap. They host fab folk nights which can be found on their website and are usually packed (in a good, vibrant way) and they have two beer festivals a year which are a village must-do but also attract people from far and wide who love folk and rock music, too. When there isn't anything going on in the evening it's very quiet and luckily we haven't met any SS types since moving here 5 years ago!!
