The Old Mill (Dunnings Mill), East Grinstead
I feel this place has taken a turn for the worse of late. The atmosphere has changed and there is now music in the bar which tends to intrude. Last time I ate in here I was not impressed with the portion sizes of the fishcakes considering the price charged. The Harveys Best is always good although has increased 10% in price per pint since last month!

Excellent venue for a sunny day to take the kids to. The prices are reasonable on the drinks and there is a fabulous play area. Keep an eye on the access road though as this passes between the play area and seating area. The staff were friendly and polite. Couldn't ask for more.

Tried this recently refurbished place as a Mother's Day venue. Wish I hadn't. The service was appalingly slow and confused (even taking into account the busy day). After ordering and consuming two glasses of 'house' white wine was promptly told they do not do a 'house' white wine! It is a bit too pretentious really. The menu was was too limited in choice and it seemed that there was garlic everywhere. Overpriced for what you get. Yorkshire puddings were terrible. Will not be returning.

Superb renovation - completely changed from the old 'Grouse & Claret' days! The food is sublime and reasonably priced too. Have only eaten during lunchtimes but the extensive evening menu just as good. Have found staff to be pleasant and attentive. Would highly recommend this gaff - a hidden gem in East Croydon.

Fantastic pub, quality food and great atmosphere. Lots of nooks and crannies although ceilings are low in places - be warned! Friendly, knowledgable bar staff always willing to help.

The Porter and Sorter, Croydon
Recently refurbished and very pleasant now. The service can be dodgy although it does have a busy after work crowd which slows things up.
