Back Door / Burlington Arms, Mayfair
Not often used by coppers - they tend to go to better pubs in Mayfair and ones that are not too close to the station! Mostly full of suits and it gets so packed that everyone is nose to elbow whilst trying to enjoy a pint. The upstairs is ok for a small private function but like the other comments say, there are better places to drink nearby.

Went there with some mates a few weeks back, didn't book but had to queue for around 15 minutes or so. Got in and donned the obligatory cape and gloves, queued for another 10 minutes inside for a drink as it was rammed. It finally got a little less crowded as a load of tourists from Italy left. Stayed in there for nearly an hour and half before frostbite got the better of us - even the vodka couldn't keep us warmed up for that long. Not sure if I'd go back, perhaps with others who haven't been before, it is a good place to impress though - if you can see each other through the big hoods!

I had a private party in the upstairs bar last week and although not my first choice of venue I found the pub to be a great venue. First off the upstairs bar was free to hire, the staff got everyone who was not invited out of there pretty sharpish at 5pm, the drinks were not too expensive considering this is slap bang in the middle of Mayfair. Some of you aren't going to believe this but the eastern european girl behind the bar was in fact very pleasant and incredibly friendly - maybe she's got a pay rise of something. The beers on offer aren't extensive but a good all round selection of alcohol. The downstairs was packed and too smokey for my liking. I would recommend it.

Ben Crouch's Tavern, Fitzrovia
This pub is great - love the gothic / churchy feel to the place, great beer, great crowd. Music is always good. Haven't been since St Patricks day when even the gargoyles were sporting green wigs and pints of guinness!!
