Called in here a couple of times recently; Youngs Special not too bad on Thursday. Heard from Nick(?) that Ringwood 49er and Adnams Bitter coming up next, so Mad Dog 62 should be happy - I know I am. Rob, I know it's not the same as when you were working there, but it's a different type of pub now. With the new beers I hope more cask fans will get in to try it.

Not sure when Shaun ran Shannons. Used to be not too bad in the 1990s when it was the Chariot. Whatever he did there, it's what happens now that counts, and he's certainly turned the Hare and Hounds into a pub I enjoy going to.

Real Ale doesn't just come from England, nor only from the British Isles (lots of good Real ale produced in Scotland and Wales too!!!). Bagrat is right. The definition of Real Ale could apply to many beers produced anywhere in the world. Lagers or pilsners can also be excellent products; it's only the ersatz efforts like Fosters, Carling et all that give the style a bad name. Being able to serve good Real Ale is not exclusive to English (or British)people. I know many people around the world and in UK who are not British by origin and serve excellent Real Ale.

Great selection last night CBOB Hobsons Mild, Twickenham Sundancer and Gothick Dark, Springhead Roaring Meg and Saltaire Cascade. Pub packed and great atmosphere. Bagrat is having no problmes maintaining the pub's popularity and quality of beers. Some new staff on, but all eqaul to the task.

I took my elderly parents in for the first time on Tuesday. Despite being only 12 the Marstons Bitter was good and no sign it was the first out the pump. The "Golden Greats" option on the menu was excellent value too.

Don't know why riddz thought it dirty, place has had a good tidy up and re-decoration. Maybe he/she should overcome fear of a real pub and try the "excellent range of beers". That's what it's famous for and not for being an hermetically sealed posuers palace..

Interesting you assume the person was English. Not in fact the case here.

I called in last night seeing it was open as I walked past. I spoke with Patrick about French beers and tried the Abbott Ale which was good. Must get in for the Jazz. Wish them every success.

Friday night after work, better crowd and the Scrum Down (fresh cask!) very good. Neil chatty and friendly and nice atmosphere - must remember not to go in on Saturday then.

Called in here for the first time breaking my journey on the train home. I'd heard there were Twickenham beers available, and I wasn't disappointed. Excellent pint in comfortable surroundings. Certainly go again.

Good pint of Twickenham Original Monday night and food looked tempting, but no time on this occasion. Price wasn't too bad but Magpie a bit cheaper. Note that the pub is just called "O'Briens" not as described at the head of the page.

Called in on Monday; a Grand Union beer still on and a couple more in the cellar. Get it now because the brewery has closed and the kit moved to Liverpool. Steve was very amiable and there were a lot of new faces since I was last in. Amazing what a lick of paint can do.

I've defended this pub in the past, but have to say if strangers got the treatment I did on Saturday afternoon, it may account for some of the comments. Whilst the Twickenham was in excellent form, some of the customers were plain ignorant; one sarcastically thanked me for coming and wished me a good trip - presumably because I was carrying a small rucksack. As I live just around the corner I explained that my trip would not be that long. I don't think he was being friendly given his tone. MillHouse I know you are in more regularly than me, but I'm not exactly a stranger.

Steak was good the other night and the london pride okay; not sorry to see the IPA go. Still not enough people in to create an atmosphere. When you compare this place to another local M&B pub - Kings Fairway in Ashford - you wonder if it was worth it. Now doing an Ember Inns job on the Running Horse, that would be a great idea!

Pub re-opened Friday after extensive refurbishmnet outside and inside. Nice clean, light and airy atmosphere. New landlord hoping to put good selection of real ales in.

Visited here as a starting point for a CAMRA pub crawl, only to find no cask beer. We were asked to have a look ourselves to see if it was okay, but really that is the cellarman/licensees job. We left.

Very busy last night, but despite this and the perception the clientele could give to strangers, the London Pride was excellent and really stands out as an example of how to provide for all tastes in a relaxed non-threatening atmosphere. Shaun is not grumpy and the food is reasonably-priced and excellent quality.

Quinno's point about the ABVs is spot on, which is a shame if you are counting your units. Better to have at least one lower strength beer. Still as it was my first visit, have to say I enjoyed the atmosphere, the beer (Kelham Island Easy Rider at 2.57) and the fact that at 4:30 on a Friday afternoon the place was busy and buzzing.

Called in on Saturday night; very quiet at 9pm despite band due on some time in the evening. Landlord looked a bit flustered and there was a strange air about the clientele - still lots of chavs! Felt a bit intimidating outside where all the smokers where, less inside. Still, great pint of Greene King XX Mild, but agree with others that it is far too expensive - 2 pints and a half of Abbott for 6.50.

Good range of beers and atmosphere. Finalist in local Pub of the Year competition. About time BITE updated the name though.

I had not been in for over a year following the sad passing of Gordon. It was a pleasant surprise to see a much improved decor and a good feel about the place. Beers kept very well and an interesting range as ever. I was with a group of Lincoln fans, who were made to feel very welcome.
9 Nov 2007 19:04
Came in here with some Lincoln fans before the match; well kept Fullers including seasonal beers - and a Guest Beer - Tom Woods put on specially for the visiting fans. Well Done!

I just go in because of the choice and quality of beers. I don't know what it was like before or who ran it or any of the people who went there, who oddly don't want to give their names! There is thankfully a lot of choice in Sunbury now and plenty of pubs that sell good beer.

The Moon on the Square, Feltham
Yes the Moon did not go in the guide for 2008. This is general policy that when a branch is informed about a change of management the pub usually does not go in. Bagrat now has the chance to prove himself and not get in on the back of John and Sarah. From what I have seen, with the quality of beers and the increased range (local beers), I don't see that as a problem. Keep it up Bagrat.

Service was a bit slow the other night and only Greene King IPA was on. It was a Monday but there were quite a few in and I think one member of staff had problems getting to work. Food not bad and friendly service. Need to make sure the beers are on though or they will lose custom.

Nice to see Autumn Blaze on, but miss the Summer Gold as now I start to think of dark foggy nights. Original as good as ever.

Another good pint of Pride the other night. Not too many people in and lacking a bit of atmosphere. Otherwise a nice pub to go to for a drink and a meal. Horses for courses; I don't particularly like loud TVs and pool tables, but each to his own. Maybe some entertainment would give the place a boost - live bands?

3 excellent pints of London Pride was a pleaseant surprise. Steak good value and taste - no Zebu there I think! Good start and hopefully will continue.

I notice there have been no comments for a while. Yesterday I decided to go for the carvery, which is only now on a Sunday, despite what it states on the out of date Fullers website. There were no prices up and whilst relaxed, I found the instruction to just go and find a table not exactly welcoming. As to the carvery, whilst the meat was enjoyable there was a shortage of vegetables, which included peas and sweetcorn. Given the lack of veg initially we returned for more, or in some cases, some items, to be told there are no repeat visits. What sort of carvery is that?! We had forsaken the Toby at Windosr for this as it is nearer, but for 50pence less it was not worth it all. Whilst the Seafarer was drinkable at 3.03 a pint we will be returning to the Toby for Oxford Gold at 2.50 and a much better meal in the future.
