Princess Victoria, Shepherds Bush
Beautiful pub but seems management are so keen to be the next big thing they are cramming in too many people to eat at weekends. Go off peak until it settles down as the wine is great and the restaurant could be excellent when it's not stuffed to over capacity.

A disappointing revamp. Not much has changed except some uber-gentrification (dodgy bookshelf wallpaper). Decent beers and ok atmosphere but lighting is way too bright. Food distinctly average especially for the price - I had lamb shoulder which was a bit like the meat rolls you have in school lunches. Pudding portions microscopic. Staff very nice though. Good luck to them but they need a better chef - feels like they are following the "guide to gastropub" cooking but don't really know what they are doing.

Go to the Greyhound ! Don't be put off by its location. I've lived up the road for four years and just hadn't got round to going in until recently and so glad I did. It's got a lovely homely relaxed feel and Kuba the landlord has doen a really good job of creating a laidback atmosphere. A perfect place to chill out - no tellies - just cheap drinks , nice chairs and nice people.

Euch! Went last Sunday and it was pretty horrid all round. Tired stodgy starters, main course of sausages was literally inedible as so fatty, tough, cold and tasteless. Everyone was so hungry they ate the roast dinners but they were also tepid and to top it off tiny portions. Restaurant tables left uncleared and generally looked a bit mucky. Staff seemed unable to cope although were pleasant enough. Would not recommend which is a shame as it's a lovely loooking pub in a nice spot. Seems everywhere now seems to think they should do "gastro" - would be better off sticking to good quality basics unless they've got staff who know what they are doing. Expensive too.

Very expensive but lovely venue. The best pies ever, shame it's got a bit of a snooty clientele.

The Crown and Sceptre, Shepherds Bush
Very friendly, helpful staff. Pretty good food. Nice bar for chilling out, especially cosy in winter. Great for a lazy Sunday with the papers but could do with more real ales.

The Stinging Nettle, Shepherds Bush
Not sure what it used to be like but I hired out the top room for a party and it was a great venue. Reasonably priced drinks and helpful staff. Would recommend if as a place to hire.

Nice venue but the food is AWFUL and the waiting staff ignorant and unhelpful. I ordered gazpacho at this pub and it was served hot (and was horrid and greasy anyway)! When I raised the issue there was no apology and I was made to feel fussy. I was the one that had to suggest it should be taken off the bill otherwise they would have expected me to pay for it.I should have given up there but went on to taste the nachos and chilli which was disgusting - the meat was of the lowest standard - basically a tasteless sludge. I wrote to complain but they didn't even bother to reply. Nice one.
