i sometimes go in here and it's a lovely big airy pub, friendly indie type crowd on a week night. good value beer and friendly staff. open mic on a thursday night is well recommended. some good talent playing!

good atmosphere, friendly staff, beer is usually pretty good but no guests. great rock place. nice and cosy.

very large pub, part of a chain. a couple of interesting good value guest beers. overpriced, pretentious, over complicated looking menu. atmosphere of a toby carvery. full of townies and bored looking couples in their 30's.
occaisional blues band on sunday nights.. might be worth going to see. next one is 27th august.

great city centre pub, real good mix of people in there, cheap drinks deals and good beer. food is ok too. classic 90's indie on the jukebox and clean toilets. good apart from when they decide to show live matches, then it's full of idiots.

not bad rock and student pub, often full of kids, cheap beer but it's not the best. good atmosphere though and nice canal side location. some good local/unsigned bands playing thurs/fri/sat nights. avoid the toilets if possible, they're the worst in brum. now sure if i've brave enough to try the food, i might do if they ever decide they're actually serving it when i'm in there.

great pub, great guest beers, not too pricey. not tried the food but it seems like a well balanced good value menu. really nice friendly people in there. recommended

this place can certainly be mixed, i'm quite a regular and like it. the landlord can be very friendly and so can the foreign staff he employs once the get the hang of serving english patrons ;-) the ale is good. cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired though. general atmosphere is friendly, cosy and slightly bohemian. always somebody interesting in there to have a chat with. plus they serve till they feel like closing, usually past 4am. don't buy the snacks though, they're a total ripoff, usually double the price of other pubs, even on Broad Street.

devoid of atmosphere, snooty staff, beer is OK. good value food, but they keep taking the nice things off the menu! very average

Formerly the Barge and Barrel, this is Tipton's only Rock and Blues pub and has a wonderful atmosphere, comfortable, clean, great music, good beer and very friendly staff/ owners. They have regular events and small bands and their punch is tasty but lethal. Biker friendly and highly recommended!

This was once a fantastic pub with great food and beer and music and i was a regular. however the latest owners have ruined it. they put the prices of the food and beer up, took half the good food off the menu, it's now got a mass produced poor quality feel to it and definately NOT value for money. also they keep exactly the same cd on repeat constantly. it might be busy and full of atmosphere at a weekend but is only recommeneded if you like being forced to stand up and get jostled by rowdy hen parties and drunken groups off the black country beer bus and wait an age to get served at the bar and listen to the same band that played last week doing exactly the same set.

Lovely pub, good selection of well kept ales, great music (not too loud) and very friendly. Not tried any of the food so far other than the chips, but they're pretty good. Open mic night on a Monday, quizz on Wednesday, music quizz on a Thursday and live music over the weekends (other stuff goes on regularly too).
