The George, Great Portland Street
Had a very obviously off pint this lunchtime (so cloudy you couldn't see through it and tasted/smelt of vinegar) but when I took it back to the bar I was told that that was the way the beer was supposed to be
I wasn't offered another pint so left.

The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers
I love this pub. Only been to the area as a tourist and I can imagine if you are local, you might be fed up with strangers in 'your' pub, however it's always been friendly enough....anyway, it's in the perfect location for a post Jurassic coastline walk pint (lovely gravity fed variety straight from the barrel) and pasty (home made and hot). Plus the interior is fascinating with real character and includes an interesting little museum. A total gem.

Not the best place to go for the beer compared to many other places nearby but certainly above average I'd say. The occasionally have an interesting guest on and the beer usually nicely kept. They also do a mean homemade Scotch egg; it's 3.50 but quite large and well worth trying!

A lovely little pub tucked away down a quiet side street, and all the better for it. There were four nice ales on tap when I visited including one of my favourites, Batemans XXXB. Not many too many punters in so it was fairly quiet too which makes a change for most London pubs.

The Junction Tavern, Kentish Town
Always some nice beers available here and occasionally have the odd mini beer festival (the recent Cornish beer festival was a treat). The food is also excellent. Well worth a visit.

I've given the pub a 7/10 purely because they have a fantastic selection of well kept ales, which is a rarity in central London. However the pub itself is a total dump and doesn't look like it's been updated since the early 80's. Now I'm all for olde world charm, but unfortunately the interior has none of this; it's just a shithole. We opted to sit outside. Can't fault the beers though; they were spot on.

Not great food and the Scottish landlord goes completely overboard on a weird sort of Basil Fawlty sarcasm.
We were tucked away at a table at the back of the pub next to a door and were a bit put off by the slug/snail trails on the walls and carpets! Beer OK and food very average.

The Garden Gate, Hampstead Heath
Easily the worst Sunday roast I have ever had in a pub. I didn't think it was actually possible to get wrong. Cheap fatty bits of meat, a horrible gelatinous gravy, hard uncooked veg, flat pancake style yorkshire pudding and pale dry roast potatoes. Avoid at all costs!

The Charlotte Despard, Archway
I went in last week and they only had Bass on which was almost warm and came served with an inch of frothy head. Not cheap either. Not worth making a special journey for.

The Swimmer at The Grafton Arms, Holloway
I'd have to disagree with the comments about the staff not being friendly; I've always found them to be the complete opposite.
The food isn't expensive either and it's really good.
Nice range of real ales and 'proper' pork scratchings.
Probably the best jukebox I've ever come across in a pub, possibly even better than one in the Social in Little Portland St.

My girlfriend and I lived opposite this place for over a year and never got the feeling that we were particularly welcome. The staff are arrogant, not at all friendly and wouldn't even say hello if they passed you in the street. They really don't seem to be running it for the right reasons and don't seem to derive any pleasure from it. I'm glad to hear that it's not just us and that other people have had similar experiences.
A waste of a potentially good pub.
