This was a once great purveyor of fine British Sunday lunches. Alas times have changed. Arrived at 1 pm this afternoon, and noone had a scooby what was going on. The unshaven barman (never a good look in the food game) was totally clueless. Managed to secure a table in the door way. Got our main and only course after 45 minutes. (Lord knows how long the later arrivals waited.) My partner ordered a Ribeye steak, she got an extremely tough old rump! There is absolutely no excuse for this! I asked for some mint sauce for my roast lamb which was stuck infront of my partner who was eating the steak. I don't believe that they eat steak with mint sauce, not even in parts of Australia where they don't shave. A few good points, but on the whole, completely dreadful. Not cheap either. Go to Marney's Village Inn up the road, harder to find, but you won't be dissappointed. Top tucker!

Marneys Village Inn, Weston Green
Great pub, lovely setting, wonderful Sunday roast. A bit dear, but the best pub for miles.

Went to this pub to meet friends and have some 'great' food before moving on. Bar staff were pleasant enough, restaurant staff totally obnoxious. Arrived at 7pm and asked if we could eat. No problem we were told. At 830 we were finally seated at a table which could have been in a broom cupboard, despite many tables in the main seating area being unoccupied all the while. Waited 15 minutes for a drink. The 16 rib-eye steak was virtually inedible tasting only of charcoal, a 2.50 tomato and onion starter consisted of 1 sliced tomato and a sliver of red onion, no dressing, unbelievable. Starters and sides were grossly overpriced and were left largely untouched. Rib of beef was excellent but should have been at 26 for 2 people. Didn't expect to have to do the carving myself though! No freshly ground pepper was offered at all. Finally left at 9.30, an hour late for our party nearby. Did the staff really expect a tip?
If you have to visit this pub, avoid eating, it will take forever and you will probably be very disappointed and certainly much poorer...

The Saucy Kettle, Surbiton
Absolutely shocking hospitality. Incredibly rude, pickled and sneering barman whose appallingly presentation is second only to his lack of manners. After last night's unbelievable rudeness, I will never cross the threshold again. Sad, dirty, unkempt little man, cannot look after his teeth or his customers...
