Horrible pub and the manager is really aggressive. The bar staff are un-attentive and very rude. Never got a drink as we were asked to leave because we complained about the way were treated by the staff.

I really can not believe the last 3 posts as the only anti social behaviour we have witnessed was from a large party of people who were visiting the church on 28/12/11 (bell ringers I believe) and caused total chaos in the pub that lunchtime. This group were mainly well spoken and in their later years but I have never witnessed such rudeness and disrespect to the staff. Every time we have been in the front bar it has been full of nice local people. We love this pub and the refurbishment in 2010 has made it an even better place. The ales are well kept, the food is to die for and the staff are brilliant. The only downside is the parking problems. If you want to eat on a weekend then book, it's really easy online.

The Flight Tavern, Lowfield Heath
I haven't checked my Beer in the Evening account for ages but the first message I read was from Dawsons who has told me to f&ck off for not writing a nice review about his pub. I sincerely hope that he is no longer there because if he is I will NEVER go back, my review was not rude or abusive so if he contacts me again I will report him.

Interesting review from topgun14 as we stopped going to this pub years ago as each Manager that takes over has ruined the place after a few months. It was a fantastic Bass pub and has been ruined by Mitchells & Butler and all those who have taken it over since.

I agree msdoom, I follow the live bands that play there which have also started to play on Saturday nights. So it's not the best place to enjoy cask ales but the staff are efficient and friendly. It's a nightclub not a pub so you take it as you find it. I think Sam is doing a great job.

Markinky, I have been to this pub many times since I have lived in England (7 years) and can totally understand the reasoning behind the positive and negative comments posted on this site. Yes the owner sadly died recently in a horrific accident but there have been problems at this pub for a long time. I have been to 2 wedding receptions, bought from the farm shop, eaten in the restaurant and drank in the bar. The restaurant food is lovely but extremely overpriced and the wedding receptions were both fraught with service problems. The bar is probably the biggest problem, there is never enough staff and people have to wait a very long time to be served. Yes the locals keep the place going in the winter and yes there was an invasion of out of towners with their vouchers who can't park and expect the bar staff to serve them the minute they arrive at the bar. However, I have been one of the people that has been there many times in the winter months and I was ignored on most occasions by the bar staff. The only times I was served without problems was when our local friends stand at the bar with us. It is a country pub so you will encounter the 'shooting and 4X4 brigade' who want a drink in their local and too right. If you want to drink in a country pub then you have to accept that the locals work in the countryside.

This is a good old fashioned pub with great staff and a wide range of drinks. They do a small range of real ales on the pump, the ones we had were very well kept. At first glance the menu looks like cafe food BUT we had the mixed grill and it was superb. The steak was perfectly cooked and you could see the high meat content in the sausages. The drinks and food are very reasonably priced. The pub is clean and has a very friendly atmosphere. I would go as far as to say it is the best pub I have been to in Crawley.

Went to this pub to see live rock bands a few weeks ago and had a fabulous time. The bar staff were polite and attentive. No cask ales or decent cider, just the normal variety of popular lagers and bitters. I probably wouldn't go there on unless there was live music but it's an ok pub.

Just so love this pub, it is the place we go to for every occasion we celebrate and just for a drink or meal for the two of us. They have a good selection of guest ales which are well kept along with the house beers, the food is fantastic and mainly locally sourced in West Sussex. We had a fantastic 2 course meal which cost 41 (food only) for 3 people last night. Our American friend was so impressed that we took her such a fantastic country pub. Just love Ben and his staff but hat's off to Chris the chef who cooked my salmon perfectly. So worth a try and you won't be disappointed.

Great beer but such a horrible pub to go to. Glad it's had a refurb cos it needed it so badly and that includes the management

The Abinger Hatch, Abinger Common
So know who you mean Mrgrumpy lol... Yes Bill still owns the pub but it was Chloe that made the pub great. Sadly she's gone and now the pub is the pits. We were regulars for 6 months after Chloe left but this year we didn't even bother going there when we went to Abinger Fayre as the beer tent was much better. Food is overpriced and pretty crap. The beers are fine but the attitude of the staff and management is beyond belief. RIP The Abinger Hatch

I agree with Wuboozals, this could a great pub but the aggressive attitude of the foreign staff make this place an absolute hell to drink or dine in. They don't like people standing at the bar and the table service is so awful. When we finally had our drinks bought to the table the waiter stank so much I had to go outside as I felt so sick. The waitress bought our food to our table and just dumped it where she felt like so we had to swap plates. Our food was crap and the beer was ok, that's being polite. When we went to leave the Polish waitress asked us why we didn't leave a tip so we told her that the whole experience was awful. She then called us tight c**ts so make your own mind up from this.

We stumbled upon this pub on our journey home from a Devon holiday on Saturday. We had a fantastic lunch, Their hand carved ham is local and still had the on the bottom of the thick slices and is served with loads of chips & two perfectly cooked fried eggs. The burgers are made by the local butcher and they taste divine, no frozen ding ding meals in this pub. The Thatchers cider was perfectly chilled and they have guest beers which I was given a taste of each for free. The couple that run are really lovely and welcoming people, nothing is too much trouble. The pub is spotlessly clean especially the toilets. It's not an all day pub because they have no passing trade but so worth visiting.

We have been going to The Lamb Inn for nearly one year. We have never had a poor meal, everytime the food has been fantastic. The beer is usually good but one time we had a problem and it was changed without problems. I have advised my Danish friends to go thre when they visit england

We like this pub as it is so like a typical english village pub. The beer was very nice and well looked after. The staff were very friendly and attentive

My English Husband wanted to visit this pub as he likes Harveys. What a dissappointment, it was more like an Irish sports bar. The first pint was not very nice so we asked to change it. The Irish manager was really horrible to us and we had to argue with him to have a replacement drink of another beer. This also was not to standard so we left the bar without finishing our drinks. This is one of the most bad pubs I have been to in England and they seriously need to look at their service and attitude towards customers.
