The Old Swan, Netherton

I do not know what problem Camra have with this pub (I think it's personal) that's caused them to drop it from the Good Beer Guide, although they have put in the Wetherspoons in Wolverhampton (WHY!!!). We love the pub, the staff and customers are always friendly and the beers are wonderful (the same as always).

We eat in the restaurant and the food was amazing with very efficient waiting staff.

Come on Dudley Camra get your tastebuds sorted.

The Drewe Arms, Drewsteignton

First visited this pub on our honeymoon, when it was still run by Mabel Mudge. It was just like sitting in someones home but with good beers.

In June on our way back from Tintagel we decided to see if it had changed since Mabel's death but were a little bit worried that it would have been spoilt.
We were relieved to find that things had not changed too much. The beers were still kept well and although we did not have any food, it certainly looked and smelt good and very favourable comments came from those who did eat. We liked it so much we called in again on our return from Cornwall in October.

Will visit again when in the area.

The Old Mill House Inn, Polperro

Our second favourite pub in Polperro (only because it is not as "olde worlde" as The Blue Peter and does not have the views of the harbour.

Staff and locals are very friendly and on our visits this year have had more choice of beers than the Blue Peter (but 2 of these visits were in Feb & Oct).

Good clean accommodation and very good breakfasts.

Can thoroughly recommend this pub if visiting Polperro.

The Blue Peter, Polperro

Wonderful Old pub with very good views over the harbour from the upstairs windows.

Really excellent beers and good food.

Our favourite pub in Polperro.

The Beacon Hotel, Dudley

Fine old pub, the Dark Ruby Mild is certainly very moreish.

The garden can be very noisy in summer.

No food except for cheese and onion cobs at lunchtime (I can recommend these).

Everyone should try Dark Ruby if at all possible but the other beers are also good. Snowflake (The Christmas beer) can be treacly when first brewed but improves with age (usually particularly good during Christmas week).

The Olde White Rose, Bilston

One of our very favourite pubs in the area.

Yes it sometimes can be smokey but not as much as it used to but isn't too bad as my Dad (a reformed smoker - so you know what that means!) likes it.

Food is extremely good, both the carvery and menu meals are really good value and very filling.

The staff are always friendly and helpful and will give advice on the beers (unless really busy).

It has also recently been redecorated.

Great Quiz NIghts, Entertainment and usually at least one beer festival a year (not one this year as the owner purchased and refurbished the Port n Ale in Great Bridge).

As regards the beer prices mentioned by one of the earlier reviews, most beer prices are around 2.10 a pint but obviously as in many pubs it depends on the price charged by the brewer or wholesaler and some are more expensive than others.

Nevertheless a great local pub.
