The Goose, Walthamstow

A meeting place before escaping to pastures new , the only good thing i can say is the beer is cheap. It seems to be a dumping ground for the united nations, enjoy.

The White Swan, Islington

This pub is typical of weatherspoons you could be anywhere, an open space void of any atmosphere serving gallons of cheap flat lager, some people would say this is paradise, not me.

O'Neills, Angel, Islington

How they have the cheek to charge to get into this hovel i don`t know , designed for people with no imagination, i was unfortunate enough to have the misfortune of going here recently. Never again truly awful.

The Ten Bells, Shoreditch

Am absolutely sickened by the state that this pub has been left in by the cretin who thought it would be a good idea to rip it to pieces. I cannot believe that the council allowed it. I came here on saturday, first time in years thinking that it would be the same old pub due to the fact of it's historical significance but it seems that nothing is sacred in the name of cash. Full of faceless loud guffawing kids downing pimms and elaborately named overpriced beers, lolling all over the 'couch' like some ugly cheap version of 'Friends'. What the hell are they playing at? Do they really think they look great?Never mind the fact that this pub was once patronised by at least a couple of Jack's victims, this pub had stood the test of time and had more or less survived any modernisation. It was a piece of living East End history. What angers me even more are some of the inane comments that have been posted about this pub which highlights the frightening lack of knowledge that some these kids have about basic historical facts. I wish I had not revisited and just remembered it the way it was. Unfortunately this pub has gone the same way as most traditional east end cultural landmarks, and the tragic thing is that soon there will be no trace that any of it existed. But at least they left the tiles eh?

The Bakers Arms, Waltham Abbey

Used to frequent this pub regularly as it was the best food pub within miles of Waltham Abbey and i always enjoyed it. However it has suddenly gone downhill and I think this has a lot to do with the new waiting at the tables whereas before you would just place your order at the bar which was simple and quick. We had decided what to have when the waitress came over to take our order, one of the dishes was unavailable so we had to choose another one. Instead of giving us a couple of minutes she hovered over us looking restless and my husband just ordered something to get rid of her! We had to wait ages for our food which was not made any easier by the fact that a group of male residents from the hotel had come in after us and yet had been served their food really quickly and the waitress seemed more interested in fawning over them instead of doing her job.Obviously she knew that she would get a bigger tip from them than she would from us.The food finally arrived and mine was ok but my husbands steak was tough as boots and was missing the sauce and his chips! We eventually managed to drag the waitress away from the other table to tell her but by the time she had bothered to go to the kitchen i had finished my food and my husband had eaten his steak plain. Won't be returning.

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

This pub epitomizes all that is great about London. The history and the eccentricity is overwhelming and i hope that this will never change. Glad that Samuel Smiths are taking good care of it and not trying to change anything, and they make great beer!

The Coal Hole, Strand

Heard a lot about this infamous pub and it's long list of famous patrons. Nice old London pub with a beautiful exterior and had a very nice pint of Guest ale. I think they should lose the music, it doesn't strike me as a pub that needs it. I was also expecting to see some evidence of this pub's history on the walls, there has apparently been a long list of notorious regulars and I wanted to see them (Aleister Crowley, Dylan Thomas, Oscar Wilde)amongst others.

Williamson's Tavern, Mansion House

Found this pub by accident and was pleasantly surprised. Good selection of real ales and they have made a great effort outside the pub for outcast smokers so we were able to sit at at table and drink and have a cigarette in comfort, even had a candle. The only downside is it's city location which unfortunately attracts the usual guffawing suit types. Other than that very nice and will keep it in mind next time I'm in the city.

The Intrepid Fox, St Giles

Really disappointed. Came here for the first time Saturday night for a pre club drink and doubt if I will come again. Have fond memories of the old 'real' Intrepid Fox and was gutted when it closed so I was quite looking forward to seeing the new one. Firstly the bar, it seems that the art of bartending has been lost here and the only qualification you need is a stupid haircut. If the moron behind the bar on saturday would brush his dodgy flock of seagulls hairdo to the side he may actually take note of who is next in line to be served! Music was mediocre and nothing like the old fox (since when has Amy Winehouse been classed as rock?)and it seems you are at the mercy of the barstaff as to what music you have to listen to which is just wrong. There have been no miracles here, this place proves that you cannot bring back the dead, RIP The Intrepid Fox.

The Walrus and Carpenter, Monument

Popped in for a quick half and frankly glad that we only had a half and did not have to stay long enough to finish a pint. Clueless girl behind the bar speaking broken english who not only went to pull the wrong beer but also the wrong measure and stared blankly at me when I corrected her that we only wanted two halves! The mens toilet was completely blocked and overflowing and there was no toilet paper or soap, my husband had to unblock it for them!

The Kings Oak, High Beech

Has a bad repuation lasting years but it looks like it is changing. The location is perfect in the centre of Epping Forest and there is so much potential for this place to be one of the most renowned pubs with a reputation spreading for miles(for the right reasons), the management just need to stick with it and really turn it around.Wednesday nights are great with the British Owners Motorbike Club meets, fantastic atmosphere.Great for children too on a warm evening as there is a nice big grassy play area with picnic tables.Hope The Kings Oak continues to thrive!

The Green Man, Waltham Abbey

Gives the great British Pub a bad name.Hostile atmosphere if you are not a regular face, bad beer and filthy outside seating area. On a balmy summers evening you cannot help but be reviled by the litter, broken glass and stench of urine. There is so much potential in this pub I just hope the new management recognises this and has the vision to make it into the pub it should be.It is my local pub and I wish I could really call it my 'local'.

The Forest Gate Inn, Epping

The best pub in the area, like stepping back in time.No music, wide screens or fruit machines, just good beer, good food and good old fashioned chatter.Love the fact that dogs are welcome and you can wear your wellies without being stared at! Nice big fire tops it off as an all round relaxing warm atmosphere.Just look out for the geese!

The Dolphin, Robin Hood's Bay

Great pub and probably the best in Robin Hoods Bay.we camped up the road so after all that fresh sea air we wanted a good old fashioned real ale pub and some nice food which is exactly what we got.Really chilled out atmosphere, lovely!
