The Red Pump Inn, Bashall Eaves
I've just read the comment posted by droom...... and I'm flabbegasted.... the portions are not miniscule at this place (in fact, I'd go as far as to say that they are actually a little over-facing at times with certain dishes). I don't agree with the value for money comments either and I've visited 4 times with friends (not just my opinion). It's not in the same category as the Three Fishes at Mitton and I'm not sure it's trying to be either, but I think the prices reflect good proper home made food with good local ingredients. This is a true rural country pub trying hard to make it work and it shows. The next time I go (first week Oct) I will mention your comments to them and I bet they'll take it in and be all the better for it! This place is a gem waiting to be discovered.

We used to go here a lot but since it has changed hands it's not what it used to be at all. Sad sad sad. It's clean and sterile and now mimics it's sister pub over the road. Good selection of ales still but I'm an old fart (50 ish)and like what I like! Better for young'uns.

Good beers on here but not a foody establishment unless you do just want cheap and cheerful. Prices reasonable and the beer "garden" could do with a spruce up. They could try harder.....

The Inn at Whitewell, Whitewell
I love it here, it's quirky and the setting is superb. Ales and food good and fine for prices charged (a little expensive for some perhaps....) always a place you can trust, but they do rest on their laurels a little with service.......

Not my cup of tea. Food not that impressive (although the Northcote Manor {parent company} is very good. Over priced and atmosphereless. My friend suggested it was an up-market Brewer's Fayre. I don't like paying up front for food either.......very heavy marketing is obvious and is a bit all consuming. I agree with last comment.... go to the Aspinall Arms over the road or the new Red Pump Inn in Bashall Eaves, both miles better for food and good ales.

Visited here with friends about three times over the last four months. In my opinion, skip the over-rated Three Fishes and try here and the Red Pump Inn just up the road, they are miles better. Good beer garden and selection of ales. Friendly staff and dog friendly!

A JOY. I've been 4 times to this Inn in the beautiful Ribble Valley and each time they are consistently good. This place deserves a pat on the back. New owners have transformed the place from a dreary lager-focussed pub into a very good country inn serving excellent food and ales; the wine list is good but could be a little bigger. Atmosphere delightful with quirky (and hilarious) landlord and landlady who were very genuinely caring about our experiences there. Try the local belly pork, this is seriously good but not for the faint hearted since they are big portions. Everything seemed home made which is a treat. In my opinion, go and try it out.... and mention to the landlady that Brenda from St Helens says Hi.... she'll die laughing if you mention the blow up sheep!
Superb country pub.

Another visit with my family, we travel from south Lancs and I am delighted to report that my husband is still impressed with the ale (Grindleton Ribble Gold and Timothy taylor landlord on this visit) and the food is excellent as ever with some great accolades to back up our thoughts which is lovely and deservedly seen; Michelin Guide, AA Best Pubs Guide, Alastair Sawday guide.... I'm not sure this gem will remain hidden for much longer, a cracking pub, voted on of the the Top 50 in England and Wales and deservedly so. We shall continue to come, it's just ace. Love from Brenda
