Has reopened as the Leyton Star, by the same people behind the Star of Bethnal Green and the Star of King's Cross. Apparently the council refused the developers request to turn into flats, insisting that the ground floor must remain a pub. Thanks LBoWF.

The King Edward VII, Stratford
I come here every other month or so and haven't been victim of any of the problems mentioned. Earlier this year when I visited the upstairs bar was being used for a private party, I didn't notice any loud music but perhaps that started later. On my last visit, Wednesday afternoon, the beer was good, the service was excellent, the food a bit overpriced but very tasty and a pleasent time was had.
Haven't found a better pub in E15 so far.

Star of Bethnal Green, Bethnal Green
I’ve been drinking in here for almost a year and while it does attract a young “Shoreditch” sort of crowd in the evenings it’s very friendly. The quiz nights on Tuesday are very popular and rather bizarre, the bonus round can be best impression of a sheep or Elvis and dance-offs. Last time I was there the lovely Nadean, compere extraordinaire, had one member of each team up for a hopping race around the pub, collecting a straw with their mouth at the bar halfway.

The Three Sisters, Hackney Downs
Re-opened as The Star by Hackney Downs, same owners as The Stars in ?King's Cross and Bethnal Green. Sadly the decorators were still at work yesterday at 3:30pm, the opening wasn't until 6pm. Next time I'll give it a go.

Still the best pub in the area, Brodies now 2.35 a pint, oh the horror, an extra 36p! Still playing Heart Radio, please stop.

What a shame, since the 80s my friends and I would always have at least one drink in the George when we were in the London Bridge area but all the old benches and tables seem to have gone with the recent refurb, replaced by high tables and stools that make this place look andd feel like an All Bar One.

Found this pub last year one lunchtime when I was hanging around Euston in need of a pint and was thoroughly impressed; took a friend there last night and was a little disappointed. The furnishings are in a bad way, a quick trip to the local second-hand furniture store for a few overdue replacements might be in order.
My Essex Beast was gorgeous, my friend tried the perry which was ok but not fantastic. When I asked for a sweet cider we got the perry again though my friend was gracious enough not to put good alcohol to waste rather than send it back.
My friend went for the haggis pie which was excellent but the much acclaimed steak and kidney pie (Le Bar Group Steak & Kidney Pie of the Year 2008/9/10 according to the website) was mostly gravy, very little kidney and even less steak with a slightly burnt crust. Not even remotely worth the 8, could have got better down the nearest chippy.
Easy to see why this was North London CAMRA pub of the year 2009/10 for the beer and cider but for attention to service, food and decor it's 50/50.

Shortly after I left a comment back in Apr 08 there was a change of management (for the better) and theyve started brewing their own beer, Brodies. The selection seems to change almost every week though IPA and English Best seem to be pretty permanent but Ive yet to have a pint that didnt satisfy, all at 1.99!!! Frasier, the old West Indian barman has retired but the staff are still a cheery bunch.
Still the best pub around here and getting better.

The Rose and Crown, Walthamstow
Popped into this pub yesterday around 1pm for the first time in years and what a transformation! All the pointless clutter has been cleared away and what's left is a rather pleasant old pub with some proper ales on tap.
I was the only customer but as it's away up the hill from the station and the market I can believe that weekday early afternoons aren't their busiest time. Might pop back here one evening, see if it livens up at all but it was nice to be able to wander around and check out the decor.

This isn't a pub, it's an offy. Ginger geezer is no more ruder than Norman. Fine selection of beers, he knows his stuff, what more do you want? Give the guy a break or go back to whatever sad boozer you hang out in. Repeat, not a pub but a great place that sells a great range of bottled beers. Go to the Globe, or the Wheatsheaf, or the Market Porter, or the Rake, all excellent drinking holes, this area is loaded with good pubs with good beer, possibly the only reason to cross over the river. Drinking Traquair Jacobite Ale bought from here while writing this. Tops!

Used to be my local but it nosedived due to various reasons and will now reopen as the Taj Mahal Restaurant. Sad.

Been drinking here ever since the 3BBs went bad. The beer has gone through a very dodgy patch though they are more than happy to change it if it's off. Can be a little short staffed at times and apart from the two guys regularly behind the bar they seem to have a fast turnover of staff; a different young lady from Eastern Europe every visit! The thai food is back after a short absence and is excellent. Big screen for big matches, though sometimes Frasier seems reluctant to use it unless the cricket's on but he's from the WIndies so it's expected. The back room is light and airy, if you can ignore the water buffalo's head. Small patio area out back quite pleasent in the summer. The micro brewery hasn't been in operation for donkey's.

Yes, this is a Weatherspoons and yes, it's local reputation is that it's full of pensioners, benefit claimants and anyone who's been barred from every other pub in the area but they've always had a good selection of beers on when I've been there and it's prices can't be beat, so you get what you pay for. Never had the food so can't comment.

Standard Irish boozer showing Gaelic sports and any Rangers or Celtic games. Expect to get shouted at if you turn the racing over as the old lads sipping Guinness in the corner like their horses. Please don't steal the Guinness stools, one went walkies St. Paddy's day a few years ago.

The Shoelaces, Leyton
Closed with builders working, supposedly reopening as a craft beer pub called Pepper's Ghost.
