The Windmill, Ashford

Nice enough pub when you're staying in the area... Would be happy to visit again, although the selection of high street bitters could be improved.

Brockley Jack, Brockley

Nice little Greene King pub with a theatre upstairs - ideal for a Friday night meal, followed by an independent show with friends. Would recommend the burgers - they don't taste like typical chain pub food.

I'm not a lover of GK beers, but the IPA was well kept and tasted as good as Greene King IPA is able to taste. We shall be back!

ptg, you seem fairly active on here - are you doing another beer festival this summer?

Trafalgar Freehouse, South Wimbledon

Good range of beers and even some interesting lagers.. really lively little pub that I always try to visit when I'm south of the river - was in the area for a beer festival yesterday and popped in :)

The William Morris, Merton Abbey Mills

When you have the Traf just round the corner and the Sultan with a large selection of interesting real ales, you'd have to set your bar quite high for a beer festival.. FOUR averagely kept beers does not constitute a beer festival. Even the Princess of Wales, who are tied to Wells managed to put on a decent enough selection last year. I actually paid MORE for a real ale than my pal paid for a pint of lager!

The Grove Tavern, South Wimbledon

It's good to see people rally round to protect their pub, I heard the landlord in another pub mention that he'd commented on this thread after a bit of negative press and have to say I didn't realise that pubs still stuck together like that. From what someone else told me, the incident as already said would have taken place anyway - it was targetted and not alcohol related; I hope it doesn't ruin the pubs slowly growing rep.

As for the pub, I have to be honest I'm not really a pub person but when I've met friends from the tube, it's a perfect place to go for a quick catch up and very quiet in the daytime

The Prince of Wales, Merton

Was in the pub last night and overheard the landlord and one of his staff mention the last posters opinion. I don't visit often, but find Amanda and Paul to be friendly and since they took over, the beer quality hab gone up tenfold. Never had a problem getting them to crack a smile or enjoy a conversation. As for ruining the atmosphere - if you prefer an open pub with a bit of background music to a silent and clicky place from the walls have eyes, then the changes made are an improvement - even the pub dog has changed to one that doesn't drool.
Good luck with it Paul. I can see you're trying.

The Railway Tavern, Mill Hill

The Railway Tavern is a quality little local pub - with good food, sports on big screen, and a great mix of people it's one of my favourite places to visit when I'm on business in North London.

Well reccomended, to both locals and people needing a watering hole 2 minutes from the A41 and A1.
