Swan and Rushes, Leicester

This is now the best pub I have ever been to, proper old mans place....but with loads of bottled beers from Germany Austria and Belgium, along with wheat beer on tap several bitters and ales and cheap but good food, and cooked snacks for less than London crisp prices. Music was descreet and varied, 80's trip hop, jazz this that and the other and just made it all the better.. what a pub! The Dog and Bell in SE8 has just moved to number 2

OK so the carpet has been taken up, a wall or two has been painted yellow and the garden which has never been special still isn't.
But the new management are making the effort and it shows and i hope they do well.

It has gotten far far better over the last 9 months, run by a couple who give a toss, beer crisps etc etc are all there everything the last lot could not be bothered with.
It is nice to look over the bar and not see bare shelves, the effort is being made and it has been noticed

Theodore Roosevelt once said: "In any moment of decision the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing is the wrong thing, and the worst thing you can do is nothing.."
And nothing is what has been done at this pub for the last 18 months at least. It saddens me to think that what was once the hub of our little world is now closed. In the last 6 months you would have thought the trade was roaring for the countless times the beer ran out, and if there was more than one barrel on the go I am sure they could have sold many more, and maybe even stayed afloat.
Let�s just hope that the brewery puts a manager in who knows what an order sheet looks like.
