Foresters, Hampton Wick

The atmosphere is certainly very pretentious! Everyone knows that people who are really at the top of their profession and get smartly dressed to go to work do not want to have to dress up to go to their local pub. Personally , I like to relax at a pub and it takes more than a gastro-pub to get me to dress up. The Chef is certainly excellent, but there are no interesting ales.

The owner has offended many of the neighborhood people and also has a huge turn over of staff because he is so mean to them. There is almost always a help needed sign. Personally , I am always worried about eating somewhere where the staff are angry.

A local and very well loved neighborhood person was insulted and turned away a few months ago because he looked too scruffy. Locals are turned away because of private parties

I once ordered a White Russian and the barman was not given the authority to mix drinks. I ordered a kaluha and milk, and the barman said he could not do it because he didn't know what to charge me for the milk! I ordered a kaluha on the rock and then went to the off-license across the street to buy a small container of milk, it was SO silly.

The owner seems to be doing a good business though so I guess there are enough yuppies with no taste in ales who are willing to wait forever to get served.

The White Hart Hotel, Hampton Wick

It is way to expensive, but with the Forrester's pub being so unfriendly it is certainly a better choice.

The Swan, Hampton Wick

The Swan is no longer as stylish as it used to be. The new decor makes it a bit of an "old man's pub" but the staff is really friendly and makes everyone feel at home. A nice neighborhood pub
