The Shipwrights Arms, Chatham

A strange place this - well past its use by date! However, the landlady is lovely and have always been made welcome. A rough and ready bunch of regulars add a bit of character. A nice old fashioned place.

The Queen Charlotte, Rochester

The previous review is spot on! Such a depressing place.

I popped in a few weeks ago to witness one of the most absurd scenes I have ever seen. Two guys playing pool. One of which was an extremely loud obnoxious Scot who offered his opponant the chance to **** his wife if he won. His poor wife looking on aghast! The guy replied "don't worry I won't be doing that" to which the Scot said why not and exploded in a fit of rage. "What is wrong with my wife how dare you offend her!!" Unbelievable. Needless to say the pub errupted into a brawl ending up with the Scot badly beaten outside.

So, if you see a white haired man in Rochester High Street wearing a Celtic shirt keep your distance!

The North Foreland, Rochester

This pub has just re-opened. I have visited this evening and have to report that it is of exactly the same poor standard as when it closed! Great pity as this used to be a wonderful place in years gone by.

The Good Intent, Rochester

This back street pub just a few minutes from the High Street is well worth a visit. Do not be put off by the look of the place - the real ales are superb!

The landlord and landlady are perfect hosts and I always enjoy my visits here. I just don't understand why they let the place remain in such a shabby state. Recommended

Golden Lion, Rochester

Is this the worst Wetherspoons in the country? Simply dreadful with an atmosphere that could errupt into violence at any moment. Poorly run with dirty tables and bar top awash with slops.

The earlier review is quite correct about its temporary closure. Venture in only if really desparate!

The Coopers Arms, Rochester

Well worth the few minutes wander from the High Street to visit this lovely pub and beer garden. A real traditional pub of the type that have too often disappeared. Beers always in good condition.

Not exactly the friendliest of bars, but have never seen any trouble here. The relatively new owners don't quite have the style and friendly welcome of their predecessors, but that is being a bit picky!

Highly recommended

Britannia Bar Cafe, Rochester

I have been popping into this venue on a regular basis for nearly 2 years and have always regarded every visit as highly enjoyable. The real ales are served to an exemplary standard. Timothy Taylor Landlord and Brewsters Rutterkin on my last visit! Superb!

The bar itself is beautifully decorated and has a glorious walled garden at the back. Above all the place is absolutely spotless. No smelly loos here! Clearly the owners take pride and very special care of the place and its customers. It is a very friendly place and have had nothing but a warm welcome on each visit. One of the owners, Colin, made me very welcome on my first visit and was extremely attentive. Even if I haven't been in for a few months, he always remembers me and even remembers the style of real ales I prefer. I notice he does it for everybody remembering all their likes and dislikes. Amazing!

This has become one of my favourite pubs, not just in Medway but anywhere! This is also the only pub that my wife will go into on her own. Recommendation indeed!!!
